MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 15, 2012)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) has released the following incident and arrest reports.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, May 10 at 8:10am, TFC J. S. Gibson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15486) on David A. Paolillo, 35, of California. The warrant was issued for Mr. Paolillo's arrest on April 27 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of CDS Possession - Marijuana and CDS Possession - Paraphernalia. Mr. Paolillo was located in the 40000 block of Beach Drive in Mechanicsville and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, May 10 at 1:34pm, Tpr. W. A. Couter served an Arrest Warrant (T3-15434) on Victor Christopher Green, 19, of Washington, D.C. The warrant was issued for Mr. Green's arrest on March 22 with an original charge of Armed Robbery by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Green was located in Charles County and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, May 10 at 6:42pm, TFC N. E. Gresko conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry in the area of Maryland Route 246 and Kay Drive for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, which was occupied three times, TFC Gresko positively identified all occupants. While speaking with the occupants, the odor of burnt marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. Subsequently, a probable cause search of the vehicle and its occupants was performed. The search of the occupants was met with negative results, however, the search of the vehicle revealed CDS and CDS Paraphernalia in a book bag containing various items. Arrested for Possession of the CDS was the driver of the vehicle, Nichole Corine Underwood, 21, of Leonardtown who claimed possession of the book bag and the items within it. Ms. Underwood was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, May 11 at 12:39am, Cpl. M. W. Laney conducted a traffic stop on a BMW passenger vehicle in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Corporate Drive in Lexington Park. Upon approaching the vehicle, contact was made with Michael Thomas Ashley, 26, of Washington, D.C. While speaking with Mr. Ashley, Cpl. Laney detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath as well as the faint odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Ashley was required to exit the vehicle for standardized field sobriety on the scene of the stop, which he was unsuccessful in passing and subsequently placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. A search incident to arrest of Mr. Ashley's person revealed CDS - Marijuana concealed in aluminum foil which was held in his pants pocket. Additionally, a NCIC / METERS check revealed that Mr. Ashley's driving privileges were suspended. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, May 12 at 11:38pm, Tpr. S. M. Morton conducted a traffic stop on a blue Nissan in the area of Maryland Route 5 and New Market Road in Mechanicsville for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, contact was made with Chad Howard Brown, 18, of Charlotte Hall who advised he did not have his Florida license in his possession. While speaking with Mr. Brown, Tpr. Morton detected the odor of fresh marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Based on information provided by Mr. Brown when asked if he had marijuana in his possession a probable cause search of the vehicle was performed. The search revealed a bag of marijuana in the center console of the vehicle. Mr. Brown was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with Possession of CDS - Marijuana and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, May 13 at 2:07am, TFC M. A. Moore conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford in the Leonardtown Center parking lot for a traffic violation. Based on the actions of the operator when the stop was initiated he was asked to exit the vehicle, and was identified as Kevin Vincent Thompson, 28, of Mechanicsville. While speaking with Mr. Thompson various inconsistencies in information he provided was observed, subsequently, an available K-9 unit was assisting with a possible scan of the vehicle. However, prior to the scan being conducted, Mr. Thompson provided information which lead to him being detained and a probable cause search being conducted on the vehicle. Located in the center console of the vehicle was CDS - Marijuana and CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Thompson was arrested and transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed for Driving Under the Influence. Following processing he was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100, DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, May 13 at 1:44pm, TFC G. A Thompson responded to the Kmart located on Alton Lane in California for a reported shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, contact was made with Loss Prevention personnel who advised a male subject was observed placing an item on his person and then exiting all points of sale without paying for the merchandise. The subject was confront once outside the establishment and freely returned the stolen item prior to being held by the staff until Law Enforcement arrival. Following the information provided by Loss Prevention, TFC Thompson made contact with the subject, identified as Charles Michael Sanford, Jr., 24, of Lexington Park. Mr. Sanford was arrested for Theft Less Than $100.00 and Possession of CDS based on information he provided. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
