Juveniles Charged for Vacant Structure Fire in Ches. Beach


CALVERT COUNTY, Md. (May 10, 2012) – Deputy State Fire Marshals have concluded an investigation stemming from a May 4 fire originating in the basement portion of a vacant dilapidated structure located at 7429 ‘B’ Street in Chesapeake Beach.

Investigators determined two juvenile youths aged eleven and sixteen were responsible for igniting the blaze by setting a blanket on fire. Approximately sixteen firefighters from North Beach Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 5:28 p.m. blaze and quickly brought it under control. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The youths were charged with Arson 2nd Degree and were released to the custody of their parents pending Calvert County Juvenile Services actions.
