Drug Arrests in St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 30, 2012)—The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division has released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division, and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Mary’s County.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE: William Scott Jordan, 40, of Lexington Park, was indicted by Vice Narcotics detectives for Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute. More than $800 in cocaine and nearly $6,700 were seized during the execution of a search and seizure warrant.

OBTAINING PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION BY FRAUD: Vaughn Jerome Chase, 44, of Lexington Park, was arrested on two open indictments for Obtaining Prescription Medication by Fraud When he was arrested by a Vice Narcotics Support Team Deputy and he was found to be in possession of additional pills in the form of generic Vicodin. He was charged accordingly and additional charges are still pending against him.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG CHARGES: Julie Louise McDevitt, 32, of Hollywood, was arrested after being indicted by Vice Narcotics detectives for numerous prescription drug charges. Suspect McDevitt and a co-defendant were charged after it was discovered that they were obtaining prescription medication by fraud. Further investigation revealed both defendants were using their State of Maryland Subsistence cards to facilitate their scheme. Charges include insurance fraud, obtaining by fraud and theft.

FALSE STATEMENT TO AN OFFICER: Jacquelyn Tilley Delay, 29, of Great Mills, was charged with False Statement to an Officer and is awaiting a Preliminary Hearing date in the District Court. Suspect Delay reported that her prescription medication was stolen and the case was forwarded to Vice Narcotics for continued investigation. That investigation revealed that the pills were actually sold and original information related to the theft was in fact false.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE: Eric Roshaun Scriber, 29, of Mechanicsville, was arrested after being indicted by Vice Narcotics detectives for Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute and Conspiracy. He was originally held without bond.

CONTRABAND IN JAIL: Antwan Marquis Somerville, 22, of Great Mills, and Samantha Lynn Becker, 21, of Mechanicsville, conspired to introduce both marijuana and tobacco products into the St. Mary's County Detention Center. The contraband was intercepted by Vice Narcotics Detectives and Correctional Staff. A third suspect has already been charged in this case.

CONTRABAND IN JAIL: James Deshawn Boman, 22, of Lexington Park, is currently incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center for felony drug charges. Suspect Bowman was caught facilitating the introduction of prescription medication (Suboxone), and Synthetic Marijuana (K-2) both of which were intercepted by Vice Narcotics Detectives and Correctional Staff. Additional arrests are pending.

PRODUCTION OF METHAMPHETAMINES: Vice Narcotics detectives began an investigation into the possible production of methamphetamines being conducted at a location in the Mechanicsville area. A search and seizure warrant was obtained, and with the assistance of the Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, was executed. Recovered were eight separate methamphetamine One Pot labs, finished product in various stages of the process and related paraphernalia. Arrested on the scene was Aliesha Lynn Carver, 28, Billy Wayne Ammons, 39, and Cynthia Ann Hutchens, 31, all of Mechanicsville. Additional arrests are expected. The extensive collection and clean up was paid for through our partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The waste and materials were recovered by the Weavertown Environmental Group.

DISTRIBUTION OF OXYCODONE: Robert Oscar Newland, 25, of California, was arrested after being indicted by Vice Narcotics detectives for Distribution of Oxycodone.
