MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 6, 2012)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) has released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, March 18 at 5:08pm, TFC N. E. Gresko conducted a traffic stop on an Acura in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Maryland Route 236 for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, he made contact with a female operator, Jaime Lyn Miller, 29, of Lusby and a male passenger, George Andrew Countiss, 26, of Indian Head. A METERS and MVA query of both subjects indicated the female had suspended license privileges and the male subject, Mr. Countiss, was wanted through the Charles County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Countiss was immediately arrested for the warrant service. Additionally, while maintaining contact with the individuals, TFC Gresko detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Subsequently, a probable cause search was performed on both individuals and the vehicle. The individual searches produced negative results; however, the search of the vehicle revealed a partially burnt marijuana cigarette located in a cigarette box belonging to Mr. Countiss. Additionally, located in a brown purse that Ms. Miller claimed ownership of was a bag of CDS - Marijuana. Both subjects were arrested for Possession of CDS - Marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, March 19 at 4:54pm, TFC N. E. Gresko conducted a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 237 and Clipper Drive on a Toyota for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, he made contact with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, Ryan Anthony Moynihan, 26, of Lexington Park. While speaking with Mr. Moynihan the odor of burnt marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Moynihan was asked to exit the vehicle, at which time a road side interview and probable cause search of his person was conducted due to the smell of marijuana emitting from his person. The search of Mr. Moynihan's person produced negative results, however, information provided led to a search of the vehicle revealing CDS - Marijuana concealed in a cigarette package in the driver's side door of the vehicle. Mr. Moynihan was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, March 21 at 11:10pm, Tpr. E. R. Mersman conducted a traffic stop on an Acura on Golden Beach Road at Hickory Drive in Mechanicsville for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the vehicle and its occupants, Tpr. Mersman identified the operator as Anthony Frank C. Mason, Jr., 18, of Mechanicsville. While speaking with Mr. Mason, Tpr. Mersman observed various suspicious actions and things within the vehicle. Consent to search the vehicle was requested by Tpr. Mersman and granted by Mr. Mason. The search of the vehicle revealed CDS - Marijuana and CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Mason was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, March 23 at 4:04pm, Cpl. M. R. Grimes conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Honda in the area of Indian Bridge Road and Western Branch Road for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the vehicle, the operator was identified as Adrian Eugene Johnson, 33, of Lexington Park. While speaking with Mr. Johnson, Cpl. Grimes detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Cpl. Grimes inquired about Mr. Johnson's marijuana usage prior to having him exit the vehicle for a probable cause search of the vehicle and his person. While outside of the vehicle, Mr. Johnson advised that he orally consumed the CDS, at which time Cpl. Grimes had him open his mouth where the remnants of the was observed in his mouth. No other CDS was found on Mr. Johnson's person, however, additional CDS was located in the vehicle on the floorboard near the center console. Mr. Johnson was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, March 27 at 9:50pm, TFC E. M. Evans served a Bench Warrant (T3-15380) on Christopher L. Cotsford, 29, of Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. The warrant was issued for Mr. Cotsford arrest on February 17 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of CDS Possession - Marijuana. Mr. Cotsford was located at the St. Mary's County Detention Center after turning himself in. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, March 29 at 7:51am, TFC M. A. Moore served a Circuit Court Warrant (T3-15422) on Tevon Anthony Middleton, 23, of Barstow. The warrant was issued for Mr. Middleton's arrest on March 16 by the Circuit Court of St. Mary's County as a result of a Grand Jury Indictment for Handgun Possession. Mr. Middleton was located in the area of Serenity Court in Prince Frederick and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, March 30 at 4:35pm, TFC E. M. Evans served a Bench Warrant (T3-15445) on John Edward Carroll, 56, of Park Hall. The warrant was issued with a charge of Failing to Appear in Court by the District Court of St. Mary's County on March 30. Mr. Carroll was located on foot while in the rear of a food establishment in Lexington Park. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, March 30 at 8:55pm, TFC J. A. Pilkerton served two outstanding warrants (T3-14857 / T3-15314) on Timothy Wayne Bush, Jr., 26, of Leonardtown. The warrant (T3-14857) was issued by the Circuit Court of St. Mary's County on March 21, 2011 with an original charge of CDS Possession - Marijuana. The warrant (T3-15314) was an Arrest Warrant issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on January 13 with an original charge of Resist/Interfere with Arrest. Mr. Bush was located on Merchants Lane in Leonardtown and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, March 30 at 9:30pm, TFC B. T. Wiesemann served a Bench Warrant (T3-15444) on Ohmer W. Webb, 28, of Mechanicsville. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on March 30 with an original charge of Driving Under the Influence. Mr. Webb was located on a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Laurel Grove Road. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, April 1 at 3:20am, Tpr. S. M. Ditoto served an Arrest Warrant (T3-15446) on Michael Thomas Budd, 59, of Edgewater. The warrant was issued with an original charge of Violation of Exparte/Protective Order on March 31 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Budd was located while incarcerated on an unrelated matter at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, April 3 at 10:13am, TFC E. J. Page served a Bench Warrant (T3-15448) on Clesson David Carson Guertler, 22, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued for Mr. Guertler's arrest on March 30 with an original charge of CDS Possession - Marijuana and Driving On A Suspended License by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Guertler was located in the 22000 block of Gregory Drive in Leonardtown and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, April 4 at 4:30pm, TFC A. J. Malaspina served a Bench Warrant (T3-15241) on Jeremy Patrick Via, 40, of Colonial Beach, Virginia. The warrant was issued on November 29, 2011 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Unauthorized Removal of Property. Mr. Via was located at the Department of Parole and Probation and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
