ST. MARYS CITY, Md. (March 8, 2012)Thomas J. Botzman, vice president for business and finance at St. Marys College of Maryland, has been selected for the Leadership Maryland Class of 2012. Leadership Maryland, founded in 1992, is one of 34 state leadership programs in the nation and has graduated over 900 statewide leaders. The program aims to inform top-level executives about significant issues, challenges, and opportunities facing the state of Maryland. Fifty-two leaders were selected to participate in the program.
Beginning in April, participants in the Leadership Maryland program will attend a two-day opening retreat, five two-day sessions, and a one-day session, all focused on pressing issues including economic development, education, health and human services, criminal and juvenile justice, environment, and diversity. Sessions will feature expert panelists and guest speakers.
Botzman was named vice president for business and finance in 2004. He holds a Ph.D. in business administration and an M.A. in economics from Kent State University, as well as a B.S. in macromolecular science and engineering from Case Western Reserve University. In 2011, Botzman completed the Institute for Executive Management at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Botzman was a 2002 2003 American Council on Education Fellow and a 1996 Fulbright Scholar in Mexico.
