MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 6, 2012)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT LESS THAN $1000: On Thursday, March 1 at 2:45pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher responded to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with a complainant, 38, of Hollywood who advised a female victim, 14, of Hollywood had an iPod stolen from her. Information provided by the complainant and victim indicated that the iPod was stolen at a school in the Great Mills area and a possible suspect was known in the theft. Based on the information provided, TFC Pitcher was able to conduct an investigation that led him to the 46000 block of Marshall Boulevard in Lexington Park. TFC Pitcher made contact with a juvenile female, 15, of Lexington Park and a guardian at which time an interview was conducted pertaining to the theft of the iPod. Based on information provided and evidence obtained during the investigation, the juvenile female was arrested for Theft Less Than $1000. She was released on the scene to her guardian pending further action by Juvenile Services.

THEFT LESS THAN $1000: On Friday, March 2 at 7:12pm, TFC J. A. Pilkerton responded to the Target located on First Colony Way in California for a reported theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with Loss Prevention Personnel who advised a female, later identified as Sherrie Renee Jenkins, 33, of Hollywood, and another female suspect, 22, of Clements were observed placing items into an oversized tub that was in a shopping cart. The females were observed passing all points of sale, without purchasing items, while simultaneously holding up a fraudulent receipt in an effort to make it appear as though the items had just been purchased. Prior to completely exiting the store, Loss Prevention was able to stop Ms. Jenkins, however, the additional suspect continued out of the establishment. Once in the Loss Prevention Office it was determined that Ms. Jenkins attempted to exit the store with $816 worth of unpaid merchandise. Upon being interviewed by TFC Pilkerton, Ms. Jenkins provided information pertaining to the theft and the additional suspect. She was placed under arrest for Theft Less Than $1000 and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. A summons service is pending for the additional suspect for Theft Less Than $1000. The recovered merchandise was returned to Target personnel.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, March 3 at 7:45pm, TFC E. M. Evans responded to the Belk Department Store for a reported theft in progress. Upon arrival, contact was made with Loss Prevention personnel who advised a female shoplifter was detained until police arrival for attempting to conceal merchandise in her purse. According to the complainant, the suspect attempted to the steal $361 worth of accessories from the department store. TFC Evans made contact with Sara Lynn Hockaday, 30, of Saint Inigoes who was being held in the security office. Based on information provided by Ms. Hockaday she was arrested for Theft Less Than $1000. A search incident to arrest additionally revealed that Ms. Hockaday had CDS concealed in her jacket pocket. Ms. Hockaday was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, March 5 at 10:34am, TFC M. A. Moore served a Circuit Court Warrant (T3-15280) on Michael Kelly Fitzpatrick, 21, of California. The warrant was issued for Mr. Fitzpatrick's arrest on December 8, 2011 by the Circuit Court of St. Mary's County with a charge of Violation of Probation - Theft. Mr. Fitzpatrick turned himself into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, March 6 at 3:40am, Tpr. S. M. Ditoto served a Circuit Court Warrant (T3-13818) on Carlo Antonio Zigler, 47, of Washington, D.C. The warrant was issued on February 10, 2009 by the Circuit Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued as a result of a Grand Jury Indictment for Theft $500 Plus Value. Mr. Zigler was located in the Charlotte Hall Area of St. Mary's County and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
