LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 5, 2012)—Two administrative appointments were made by the St. Mary's County Board of Education at its meeting of February 29.
The Board appointed Ms. Laurel Dietz to the position of Supervisor of Fine Arts in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development. Ms. Dietz, who currently serves as General Music Teacher at Evergreen Elementary, has also taught Music at Benjamin Banneker Elementary, Great Mills High, and Hollywood Elementary since joining the school system in August of 2000. She graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland in May of 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and earned her Master's of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Towson University in May of 2010. Her appointment will become effective in April 2012.
The Board also appointed Mr. Todd Whitlock to the position of Project Coordinator I in the Department of Design and Construction within the Division of Supporting Services. Mr. Whitlock joined the school system in February of 2011 as a temporary employee in the Department of Design and Construction. He earned his Associates degree in Business Management from Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina in May of 2003. His appointment becomes effective immediately.
