LA PLATA, Md. (January 21, 2012)The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
ATTEMPTED WHEEL THEFT: Sometime between 3:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and 2:50 p.m. Feb. 20, suspect(s) attempted to steal the wheels from a 2007 Dodge Charger parked in the 3400 block of Promenade Place in Waldorf but were unable to defeat the tire locks. Anyone with information about the theft attempt is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Officer K. Newman is investigating.
WHEEL THEFT: Sometime between 8 p.m. Feb. 17 and 8:20 a.m. Feb. 18, suspect(s) stole the rims and tires from a Cadillac Escalade parked at a residence in the 2400 block of Shawnee Lane in Waldorf. The suspect(s) left the vehicle resting on landscaping blocks. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Officer M. Kelly is investigating.
ASSAULT: On Feb. 18 at 3 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 4800 block of Kingfisher Court in Waldorf for the reported fight between acquaintances. The investigation revealed Antwan Lavar Johnson, 28, of Waldorf kicked in the front door and assaulted a male occupant. Johnson then fled in a red car toward Smallwood Drive. Officer R. Walls was patrolling the area when he saw a red car in parked at a gas station. Upon further investigation he identified one of the occupants of the vehicle as Johnson and subsequently arrested him. Johnson was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree burglary and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
DRUG POSSESSION: On Feb. 15 at 12:02 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs Sgt. C. Schmidt was patrolling the 1000 block of St. Ignatius Drive in Waldorf when he conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a window tint violation. During the stop, Sgt. Schmidt developed information indicating the occupants may have had drugs in the vehicle. Officer W. Christian responded with his K9 partner, who scanned the vehicle and alerted the officers to the presence of drugs. Officers subsequently searched the vehicle and its two occupants, who were identified as Ricco Marqus Thompson, 28, of Hughesville and Tony Lamont Savoy, 27, of Waldorf. During the search, officers discovered Thompson was in possession of a handgun and Savoy was in possession of marijuana, packaging materials and money indicating the possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Thompson was charged with handgun possession and Savoy was charged with marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending appearances before a district court commissioner.
