MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (February 13, 2012)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, February 4 at 6:39pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher responded to the parking lot of Fred's Liquors in Charlotte Hall for a reported accident. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant of Charlotte Hall who advised that while in the parking lot her vehicle was struck by a Dodge. The complainant advised she attempted to make contact with the operator of the vehicle but he was not communicating. TFC Pitcher then made contact with operator, later identified as Gregory Allan Deavers, 45, of Hughesville. Upon approaching the operator, TFC Pitcher observed him to be unresponsive to commands that were given, additionally he observed on the subject's lap a brownish colored partially burnt cigarette. After a short time, Mr. Deavers began to communicate, while doing so a distinctive chemical odor was detected emitting from the vehicle. Following evidence and tests performed at the scene, Mr. Deavers was arrested for DUI/DWI and Possession of CDS - PCP. He was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing of the DUI/DWI and later transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, February 5 at 8:00am, Tpr. D. Buckalew responded to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and made contact with Sgt. J. L. Linger in the main lobby of the Barrack. Upon entering the Barrack lobby, Tpr. Buckalew detected the odor of burnt marijuana. Upon making contact with the Duty Officer, Sgt. Linger, Tpr. Buckalew was advised that the male subject he observed in the lobby area had responded to the Barrack for court appointed community service. Tpr. Buckalew made contact with the subject, identified as Gerrell Terrence Shingles, 20, of Mechanicsville, and detected the odor of burnt Marijuana emitting of Mr. Shingles' person. A probable cause search of Mr. Shingles' person revealed negative results. However, due to the nature of the incident and the pungency of the odor, a search of Mr. Shingles' vehicle located in the Leonardtown library parking lot was conducted. The search of Mr. Shingles' vehicle revealed a CDS - Marijuana and a large amount of U.S. Currency. Mr. Shingles was subsequently placed under arrest for Possession of CDS and CDS Paraphernalia. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, February 1 at 11:47am, TFC E. M. Evans served a Fugitive Arrest Warrant (T3-15365) on Laticia Rene Bush, 36, of Mechanicsville. The warrant was issued on February 1 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with a charge of Fugitive from Justice - Virginia. Ms. Bush was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending extradition to Virginia.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, February 8 at 4:41pm, TFC E. M. Evans served a Bench Warrant (T3-15262) on Caitlyn M. Reese, 22, of Waldorf. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on December 8, 2011 with an original charge of CDS Possession - Not Marijuana. Ms. Reese was located in Charles County and held on a detainer until transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack. Ms. Reese was taken into custody by a MSP Leonardtown Trooper and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, February 8 at 10:53pm, Tpr. W. A. Couter served a Bench Warrant (T3-15351) on Lee K. Clark, 25, of Leonardtown. The warrant was issued on February 1 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of CDS Possession - Paraphernalia. Mr. Clark was located in the 41000 block of Connelly Street in Leonardtown and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, February 9 at 9:49am, TFC M. A. Moore served a Circuit Court Warrant (T3-15363) on Joseph Lee McCarthy, 27, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued on February 7 by the Circuit Court of St. Mary's County as a result of a Grand Jury Indictment for First Degree Burglary. Mr. McCarthy was located already incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served on the warrant and remained in custody pending a hearing by the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, February 9 at 11:25am, Cpl. M. W. Laney served a Bench Warrant (T3-15341) on Kalyn Louse Dziergowski, 24, of Lusby. The warrant was issued with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License on February 1 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Ms. Dziergowski was located in the 21000 block of Exquisite Court in Lexington Park. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, February 10 at 6:04pm, Tpr. W. A. Couter served a Bench Warrant (T3-15359) on Mandy Susanne Rhodes, 36, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued for Ms. Rhodes arrest on February 8 with an original charge of Driving Without A Required License by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Ms. Rhodes was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
