LEONARDTOWN, Md. (February 7, 2012)The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.
FATAL CAR CRASH: On February 5 at approximately 5:48pm, troopers responded to the area of MD Rt. 6 east of MD Rt. 235 in Mechanicsville for a reported single vehicle collision. Preliminary scene investigation revealed the driver lost control, traveled off the roadway, over compensated, crossing the center line and east bound lane of MD Rt. 6 and subsequently collided with a tree. The driver, Jason M. Denton, 24, was transported from the scene to PG Shock Trauma via MSP Trooper 7 with life threatening injuries. The passenger, Paul S. Burnett, 2nd, 32, was pronounced deceased on scene. Notification to next of kin was made by
troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack. Driver speed and alcohol was a contributing circumstance to the collision. Investigation is being conducted by the MSP Crash Team.
TRESPASSING: On Tuesday, January 31 at 7:18pm, Tpr. E. T. Reuschling responded to the Indian Creek Pier in the 38000 block of Shoreview Drive in Mechanicsville for a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival contact was made with James Daniel Seifert, 19, of Clements who was observed sleeping at the end of the pier. Mr. Seifert advised he was transported to the location earlier during the day and was awaiting a ride from a third party. Attempts to contact a ride for Mr. Seifert were unsuccessful. Based on the marked information in the area that the pier was for "residents only", Mr. Seifert was placed under arrest for Trespassing. A criminal citation was issued and a mandatory court date appointed.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, February 1 at 11:41am, Tpr. W. A. Couter served a Bench Warrant (T3-15248) on Eric Maurice Chase, 21, of Callaway. The warrant was issued for Mr. Chase's arrest on December 2, 2011 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. Chase turned himself into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, February 1 at 11:00pm, TFC G. A. Thompson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15309) on Jeffery Scott Welcome, 49, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on January 13 with an original charge of Driving Without Required Authorization. Mr. Welcome was located in the 46000 block of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, February 2 at 12:10am, Tpr. E. R. Mersman conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Impala in the area of Maryland Route 246 and Maryland Route 235 for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle the operator was identified as Buffy Marie Moore, 41, of Lexington Park. Two passengers in the vehicle advised they did not have identification and provided their name and date of birth. It was later determined that both subjects provided false names. Searches through both METERS/NCIC and local databases ultimately led to the positive identification of both subjects. During interaction with both the passengers and driver, CDS was observed in the vehicle. Arrested for Possession of CDS - Marijuana was Buffy Moore and a male juvenile, 17, of Lexington Park. Ms. Moore was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged and processed accordingly. The juvenile was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed and released to a guardian pending further action by Juvenile Services.
THEFT LESS THAN $1000: On Thursday, February 2 at 5:54pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher responded to the Wal-Mart on Miramar Way in California for a reported shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, contact was made with Loss Prevention personnel who advised Stephanie Marie Lee, 22, of Lexington Park was in custody for attempting to steal from the establishment. Statements pertaining to the incident were obtained from both Loss Prevention and Ms. Lee. Subsequently, Ms. Lee was placed under arrest for Theft Less Than $100.00. All property was returned to the Loss Prevention Staff and Ms. Lee was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, February 4 at 4:30am, TFC E. J. Page served a Bench Warrant (T3-15126) on Tercell Javon Blackiston, 23, of Leonardtown. Mr. Blackiston was wanted on an original charge of CDS Possession - Marijuana and Driving On A Suspended License. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on September 13, 2011. Mr. Blackiston was located already in custody at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, February 6 at 12:30am, Tpr. E. T. Reuschling served an Arrest Warrant on (T3-15353) on Kelvin Mundell Adams, Sr., 42, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued on Mr. Adams on February 6 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with a charge of a Fugitive Other Area - Virginia. Mr. Adams was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he will remain pending extradition.
