LA PLATA, Md. (February 1, 2012)—The College of Southern Maryland Foundation has announced the addition of Michelle Aughinbaugh, Eric Bailey and Christine M. Rush to the foundation board of directors. Jay Lilly has been selected chair of the foundation board of directors.

A resident of Charles County and an alum of CSM from the Class of 1975, Lilly has served on the foundation board since 2008. At CSM’s Winter Commencement held Jan. 12 in La Plata, Lilly and his wife Mary were awarded the CSM Board of Trustees’ Distinguished Service Award for their long-standing support of the college. They have supported fundraisers such as the annual golf classic, the arts and the nursing program, and provided more than $12,000 to the college. The Lillys own two real estate businesses.

“As the fundraising arm of the college, the board is composed of volunteers who are CEOs, educators and professionals from the tri-county area who come together to find ways to raise money and resources—but most importantly friends and supporters of CSM,” Lilly said. “As with my own experience, I received a partial scholarship to attend CSM from C&P Telephone. This made it easier to begin my college education. While at CSM, the professors were, and continue to be, dedicated to the students. They provided me with a great educational base and helped me focus to achieve what I needed to gain entry into Georgetown University where I earned my bachelor’s degree. The foundation has made stories like mine possible for hundreds of CSM students."

Aughinbaugh is vice president, business development, at the St. Charles Companies. She has a bachelor’s degree in technology and management from the University of Maryland University College.

"Good schools, at every level, are the bedrock of good communities. I'm pleased to join the CSM Foundation so that I can help our college continue to provide a wealth of educational opportunities for residents throughout Southern Maryland," said Aughinbaugh.

Bailey is project manager for commercial property management at Marrick Homes. He has a bachelor’s degree in building construction from Georgia Tech. Bailey follows his father Charles “Rick” Bailey, who served on the foundation board from 2000 to 2007.

“I am very fortunate to have been selected as a foundation director for the College of Southern Maryland. Having recently moved back to the Southern Maryland area after growing up here, it is exciting to see how far CSM has come, and what more it has to offer to the community. I look forward to being able to be a part of CSM continuing to grow and provide invaluable services to the Southern Maryland community,” said Eric Bailey.

Rush is chief financial officer, executive vice president and corporate secretary of Old Line Bank. Rush has a master’s of international management and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland. She earned an associate of arts degree with honors from CSM in 1987.

“The College of Southern Maryland was the foundation for my future achievements. I am pleased to have the opportunity to be a member of the Foundation Board and to be able to give back to an organization that had a profound impact on my career and me. It was at CSM that I developed a quest for learning and gained the confidence to pursue my education and career goals,” said Rush.

The CSM Foundation promotes academic excellence, growth, progress and the general welfare of the college by raising and managing funds, and by providing support to strengthen and develop the college and its objectives. CSM Strong for a Stronger Southern Maryland is the CSM Foundation’s annual campaign for the next two years to increase awareness of the resources needed to be a thriving and productive region with plenty of opportunities for ourselves and our children.
