MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (January 30, 2012)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 10:50pm, Cpl. M. W. Laney initiated a traffic stop on a gold Lincoln passenger vehicle in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Clarks Landing Road for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the operator was identified as David Isiah Butler, 39, of Mechanicsville. While speaking with Mr. Butler, Cpl. Laney observed what appeared to be pieces of raw marijuana on Mr. Butler's lap. Following the arrival of additional units, a probable cause search of the vehicle and Mr. Butler's person was performed. The search revealed CDS in the area between the front passenger seat and passenger door. Mr. Butler was advised he was being placed under arrest for Possession of CDS - Not Marijuana. When Cpl. Laney attempted to handcuff Mr. Butler he began to resist and fled on foot. Mr. Butler was caught a short time later and arrested. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:50pm, TFC G. A. Thompson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15142) on Nathan Jered Mowrer, 25, of Abell. The warrant was issued on September 21, 2011 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Mr. Mowrer was located at the St. Mary's County Detention Center and served pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 5:17pm, TFC N. E. Gresko conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet in the area of Clipper Drive and Maryland Route 237 in Lexington Park for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the operator was identified as DeWayne Anthony Washington, 25, of Lexington Park. While speaking with Mr. Washington and a female passenger, TFC Gresko detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Washington exited the vehicle for a probable cause search of his person, at which time, TFC Gresko continued to detect the odor of marijuana emitting from his person. The probable cause search of Mr. Washington's person was met with negative results, however the search of the vehicle revealed CDS and CDS Paraphernalia in the center console of the vehicle. A search of the female occupant was conducted and also revealed negative results. Mr. Washington was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:30pm, Tpr. E. T. Reuschling served a Bench Warrant (T3-15339) on Leroy Michael Sandy, 49, of Waldorf. The warrant was issued on September 16, 2011 with an original charge of Driving Under the Influence by the District Court of Charles County. Mr. Sandy was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
