LA PLATA, Md. (January 24, 2012)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG POSSESSION: On Jan. 24 at 12:50 a.m., Cpl. D. Savoy of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of Ladysmith Court and Wilkerson Road in Brandywine when he observed an occupied vehicle parked without its lights on. As the officer approached, the driver began to drive away. The officer stopped the vehicle and upon approaching it he detected a strong odor of marijuana. A subsequent search revealed the occupants were in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Wesley Amilleo Adams, 19, of Fort Washington, Davon Terrill Crumety, 20, of Bryans Road, and a 16-year-old Brandywine girl were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Adams and Crumety were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a District Court commissioner and the juvenile was released to a parent.

STOLEN VEHICLE: On Jan. 23 at 4:24 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 9200 block of Bowling Road in Charlotte Hall after a concerned citizen called police to report a possible vehicle theft in progress. The citizen had observed three individuals loading a disabled vehicle onto a car trailer. Officers located suspects transporting the vehicle on Trinity Church Road and conducted a stop. Through the course of their investigation, they determined the vehicle had been stolen. David Jerared Hicks, 24, of Newburg and Thomas Cornell Yates, 39, of Charlotte Hall were charged with motor vehicle theft and were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending appearances before a District Court commissioner. A 24-year-old Newburg woman was also involved and will be charged at a later date. Cpl. M. Clark investigated.

THEFT: On Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Sears located at 11170 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the reported theft. The investigation revealed a male suspect used stolen wire cutters to remove the security cable on a jewelry tower. He took the jewelry tower, which contained necklaces, earrings and rings, and fled the scene. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect. The suspect is described only as a black male wearing a dark coat, a scarf and blue jeans. He was driving a gray Oldsmobile. STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Jan. 22 at 3:55 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the JC Penny located at 11130 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the reported strong-arm robbery. The investigation revealed D’chae Lexus Womack, 18, of Upper Marlboro approached a 17-year-old girl in a store bathroom, grabbed the girl’s purse and removed a wallet. Womack stole money from the wallet and fled the scene. Officers found Womack outside the store, arrested her and charged her with robbery and theft. Womack was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a District Court commissioner. Officer D. Brady investigated.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Jan. 21 at 5:45 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Dairy Queen inside the St. Charles Towne Center located at 11110 Mall Circle for the reported strong-arm robbery. The investigation revealed the accused, a 13-year-old female, approached the victim, another 13-year-old female, in front of the store. The accused snatched the victim’s purse, stole money and fled the scene. Officers located the suspect in the mall shortly thereafter. The accused was charged as a juvenile with robbery and theft and was released to a parent.

THEFT: On Jan. 21 at 8:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Dement Mechanical Corporation located at 6515 Industrial Park Road in Hughesville for the reported theft. The investigation revealed that sometime between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 20 and 8:15 a.m. Jan. 21, suspect(s) dismantled two air conditioning units, stole the copper condenser coils and copper piping from inside and fled the scene. PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: On Jan. 21 at 2:10 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a parking lot the 2000 block of Amber Leaf Place in Waldorf for a property destruction report. The investigation revealed suspect(s) punctured the fuel tank on a parked vehicle. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. THEFT: Sometime between Jan. 7 and Jan. 20, suspect(s) stole a heat pump from a residence in the 15400 block of Homeland Drive in Hughesville.
