St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (January 19,)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

John Drew Busler, Jr., 24 of Leonardtown, Md.SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On January 18, deputies responded to a residence on Magee Drive in Leonardtown for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed John Drew Busler, Jr., 24 of Leonardtown, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Busler choked, kicked and struck the victim. Busler was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

THEFT, FORGERY: On January 16, Deputy Beyer responded to a residence on Holly Hill Lane for a report of a theft and forgery. Investigation revealed a check had been stolen from the victim and cashed. Further investigation revealed Travis H. Allers, 21 of California, had stolen the check and forged the victim's name on the check prior to the check being cashed. Allers was arrested and charged with two counts of theft and one count of forgery.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On January 16, Deputy Green responded to a residence on Great Mills Court in Lexington Park for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Ansley Dorian Watkins, 23 of Lexington Park, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Watkins struck the victim about the face, neck and arms. Watkins was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On January 12, Deputy Green responded to a residence on Sandy Bottom Road in Hollywood for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Anthony Eugene Vittatoe, 27 of Hollywood, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Vittatoe grabbed the victim around the neck. Vittatoe was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

DISORDER CONDUCT, RESISTING ARREST: On January 13, deputies responded to a local bar on Mervell Dean Road in Hollywood for a report of a large disturbance. Upon arrival deputies were directed by the establishment's security to four individuals who had assaulted a female and were trying to leave. Deputies attempted to interview the individuals who were intoxicated, belligerent, uncooperative and challenging. The individuals were yelling and cursing which caused a further disturbance. Deputies warned the individuals to stop yelling and cursing but they refused. Deputies attempted to arrest Jafari at which point Harrington, Herbert and Hayden attempted to interfere and stop the arrest. All four individuals were arrested and charged with the following:

- Robert Allen Hayden, 27 of Lusby, charged with disorderly conduct, failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer and alcohol beverage intoxication endangerment;

-- Dinia Kaye Jafari, 27 of Prince Frederick, charged with disorderly conduct, second degree assault, failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer, alcohol beverage intoxication endangerment and resisting arrest;

-- George Sumner Harrington III, 31 of Mechanicsville, charged with disorderly conduct, second degree assault of a police officer, failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer, alcohol beverage intoxication endangerment and resisting arrest; and

-- Boby Jake Herbert, 28 of Lexington Park, charged with disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, second degree assault, failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer, alcohol beverage intoxication endangerment and resisting arrest.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On January 14, Deputy Green responded to a residence on Fox Chase Drive in Great Mills, for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Derisha Lesha Marshall, 26 of Great Mills, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Marshall choked the victim. Marshall was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

TRESPASSING: On January 15, Deputy Beasley responded to the Great Mills Apartments in Great Mills for a report of a trespasser. Investigation revealed Charles H. Price, 72, of no fixed address, was sleeping in the laundry room of the apartment complex. Price had previously been served with a notice not to trespass by the property manager. Price was arrested and charged with trespassing.

DRUG AREST: On January 16, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Deputy Wood was conducting a patrol check of Nicolet Park in Lexington Park. Deputy Wood located a vehicle, running with its lights off, parked in the rear of the park. Deputy Wood investigated and discovered Craig Ryan Scopin, 21 of Lexington Park, in the vehicle. A canine scan of the vehicle resulted in a positive alert for controlled dangerous substances. Further investigation revealed a small plastic baggie containing suspect cocaine residue and a metal smoking device containing suspected cocaine residue inside of the vehicle. Scopin was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

ARRESTS IN BRUTAL ASSAULT ON JUVENILE: On January 13, Trooper First Class E. Page observed a juvenile male standing in the median of Three Notch Rd. in the area of McArthur Blvd. in California. Contact was made with the juvenile who stated he had been struck in the head with a blunt object and stabbed multiple times by several assailants while walking on a footpath to the rear of San Souci Shopping Center. The juvenile victim was air lifted by Trooper 7 to Prince Georges's Hospital Shock Trauma Unit due to life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. During the investigation two suspects were identified and arrest warrants were issued.

On January 18, at 6:00 a.m., a search and seizure warrant was executed at a residence in Great Mills resulting in the arrest of Wade Joshua Braithwaite, 18, and Alan Michael Rangel, 18, both of no fixed address. Both were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center, charged with Assault First Degree and incarcerated on a $3,500 bond each.
