ANNAPOLIS (January 4, 2012)—Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown, who today chaired the Board of Public Works (BPW), announced approval of a recreational project in St. Mary's County through
Program Open Space.
St. Marys County will receive $75,000 to create a design for the new Leonardtown Community Park on 25 acres of the
controversial Hayden Farm property in Leonardtown. The park will include multi-purpose athletic fields, a playground, parking and restroom facilities.
The three-member Board of Public Works is comprised of Governor OMalley (chair), Treasurer Nancy Kopp and Comptroller Peter Franchot. The BPW is authorized by the General Assembly to approve major construction and consultant contracts, equipment purchases, property transactions and other procurement actions.
