Another Pedestrian Killed in Charles Co.


CALIFORNIA, Md. (December 23, 2011)—Another pedestrian has perished on the roadways of Charles County. Police report that Njumayi Achille-Desire Takuefou, 31, of District Heights, was attempting to cross southbound Route 301 at Mattawoman Drive in Waldorf at 2:52 a.m. this morning when he was struck by a car.

The vehicle, a 2007 Sterling A9500, was being operated by Daniel Bruce Ward, 48, of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Takuefou was transported to Southern Maryland Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police cite the determining factor of the accident as the pedestrian being illegally in the roadway.
