Waterman Charged with Harvesting Oysters on Suspended License


ANNAPOLIS (December 14, 2011)—The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) released the following incident and arrest report. NRP is the enforcement arm of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). NRP is the only police force aside from the Maryland State Police that has statewide jurisdiction.

HARVESTING OYSTERS ON SUSPENDED LICENSE: On December 9 at 12 p.m., NRP Officers boarded the commercial fishing vessel “Gina Marie,” in the Patuxent River within the boundaries of St. Mary's County, finding and charging Benjamin Byers, 31 of Bozman, with harvesting oysters while his license and activity was suspended. A trial date has been set for February 20, 2012.
