MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (December 13, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On Sunday, November 20 at 12:54pm, TFC J. S. Gibson responded to the 21000 block of North Essex Drive in Lexington Park for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 30, of Lexington Park, who advised she spent the night away from home and upon return discovered a male subject, identified as Pierre Antonio Butler, 34, of No Fixed Address, sleeping in her residence. The complainant advised of property destruction caused by Mr. Butler once confronted about being in the residence. While surveying property damage in the house, TFC Gibson and the complainant observed an open window in the basement of the residence, investigation determined that the window was the point of entry into the house by the suspect. Shortly after leaving the residence, contact was made with the suspect, Mr. Butler at the Shoppers Food in Lexington Park. Mr. Butler was placed under arrest for Burglary, Malicious Destruction of Property and Violation of a Protective Order. Mr. Butler was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged accordingly. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Monday, November 21 at 9:56am, TFC J. G. Fleetwood responded to the McKay's Food & Drug Store on Merchants Lane in Leonardtown for a reported shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, contact was made with a complainant who advised a female was observed purchasing some items and then attempting to conceal items not purchased before attempting to exit the establishment. Additionally, the complainant was able to produce video footage that showed the female suspect had engaged in similar behavior on November 19. TFC Fleetwood made contact and received statements regarding both thefts. The female subject, identified as Michelle Denise Hodge, 40, of Hollywood was issued a criminal citation for Theft Under $100.00 and a mandatory court appearance date. Ms. Hodge was issued a "no trespass" order and released from the scene, pending further action.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, November 22 at 1:41am, TFC N. E. Gresko initiated a traffic stop on a Saturn passenger vehicle in the area of Old Village Road and Mechanicsville Road for a traffic violation. While making contact with the operator of the vehicle, William Samuel Willet, 20, of Waldorf, TFC Gresko detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Willet was asked to exit the vehicle, at which TFC Gresko still detected the odor of marijuana, now emitting off his person. Subsequently a probable cause search was performed, revealing CDS and CDS Paraphernalia on Mr. Willet's person. He was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS and CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Willet was issued a criminal citation and mandatory court appearance date before being released from the scene.

DRUG ARREST, ALCOHOL VIOLATION: On Tuesday, November 22 at 10:55pm, TFC E. J. Page conducted a traffic stop on a silver Ford in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Commerce Park Drive for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the operator, a male juvenile, 17, of Bryantown, TFC Page observed that the juvenile appeared to be nervous. He was subsequently asked to exit the vehicle for a roadside interview. During the course of speaking to the juvenile, information was provided which led to a probable cause search of the vehicle. The search of the vehicle revealed CDS, a smoking device, and a container of liquor. The male juvenile was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack where he was charged accordingly, issued citations and released to a guardian pending further action by Juvenile Services.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, December 7 at 4:50pm, Tpr. E. R. Mersman served a Bench Warrant (T3-15233) on Wesley Leonard Morris, 33, of Avenue. The warrant was issued on November 23 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. Morris was located in the 38000 block of Hatchet Thicket Road in Avenue and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, December 8 at 9:45pm, TFC S. M. Van Bennekum served a Bench Warrant (T3-15250) on Samantha Joyce Roche, 24, of California. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Driving An Uninsured Vehicle on December 2. Ms. Roche turned herself into the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Upon TFC Van Bennekum's arrival, she was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, December 11 at 3:45pm, TFC E. J. Page served an Arrest Warrant (T3-15264) on Gerald Francis Balenger, 76, of Charlotte Hall. The warrant was issued for Mr. Balenger's arrest on December 10 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Second Degree Assault. He was located in the 37000 block of Mohawk Drive in Charlotte Hall and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
