MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (December 08, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Sunday, November 13 at 8:47pm, TFC S. M. Van Bennekum responded to a reported theft from the Family Dollar in Leonardtown. In the broadcast of the incident, information was provided in regards to the suspects and vehicle used to flee the scene. While en route, TFC Van Bennekum observed a vehicle matching the description and displaying the provided license plates. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle in the area of Maryland Route 4 and Brown Road, and contact was made with the operator, Wallace James Thacker, 44, of Lusby and a female passenger. The female passenger admitted to being at the Family Dollar but advised she had receipts for the merchandise in the vehicle. The female willingly provided those receipts to TFC Van Bennekum. However, an inventory of the merchandise compared to the receipts revealed four items not listed as purchased. Upon further inquiry regarding the unlisted merchandise, Mr. Thacker provided information on how the items were obtained. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported back to the Family Dollar in Leonardtown. At the Family Dollar, contact was made with a complainant, and merchandise was returned to the establishment. Mr. Thacker was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with Theft Under $100.00 and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Monday, November 14 at 9:30pm, Tpr. E. T. Reuschling responded to the Applebee's on Miramar Way in California for a reported theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with a complainant, who advised three male subjects left the establishment without paying for food that was consumed. A witness provided the identity of one of the subjects involved in the theft, and a query through the Emergency Communications Center revealed a possible address in the 22000 block of Chancellors Run Road. A summons was applied for and received charging the identified male, Troy Bennett Moore, 19, of California with Theft Under $100.00. On Tuesday, November 15, Tpr. Reuschling made contact with Mr. Moore at the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack. A interview was conducted with Mr. Moore where he provided an account of the events that occurred on the previous day. Mr. Moore was unable to provide information on the additional subjects involved in the theft. He was charged and served on a criminal summons and released pending further action at a later court date.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Tuesday, November 15 at 4:45pm, TFC N. E. Gresko responded to the Family Dollar on Merchants Lane in Leonardtown for a reported theft in progress. Upon arrival, contact was made with a complainant and witness who advised they observed a female and male subject conceal merchandise and exit the store without paying. The suspects had fled the scene prior to police arrival, but information was provided for a broadcast of the suspects and vehicle they were occupying. The vehicle and its occupants was located a short time later by additional law enforcement personnel in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Maryland Route 245. Upon contacting the occupants, all subjects were identified and observed in plain sight was multiple opened and unopened bags of candy from the Family Dollar. A receipt was not produced to prove the items had been purchased. TFC Gresko responded to the location, and attempted to clarify information with the suspects. Unable to receive cooperation from all parties, TFC Gresko charged Heather Marie Garner, 23, of Hollywood, Amanda Lynn Norris, 24, of Callaway and Randy Allen Adkins, 38, of Hollywood with Theft Under $100.00. All three subjects were charged on a criminal citation and issued a mandatory court date prior to being released from the scene.

DRUG ARREST, HANDGUN SEIZURE: On Thursday, November 17 at 2:30am, TFC M. A. Moore responded to the Wawa located at Maryland Route 235 and Maryland Route 4 for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, TFC Moore accompanied by Tpr. E. R. Mersman surveyed the exterior and interior of the establishment attempting to locate an active disturbance. None were located. However, upon exiting the establishment, TFC Moore did observe a vehicle illegally parked in a space marked for use by Handicap Patrons. TFC Moore made contact with the vehicle observing it was occupied by two passengers but no driver. TFC Moore was unsuccessfully attempting to communicate with the passengers via a rolled up window when he observed in plain sight a handgun on the floor of the driver's side. TFC Moore immediately opened the driver's side door and obtained possession of the handgun for law enforcement safety. Alerted of the situation, Tpr. Mersman had the front passenger, Tevon Anthony Middleton, 22, of Barstow exit the vehicle. The rear passenger, Travis Arnaz Dawkins, 22, of Prince Frederick was assisted in exiting the vehicle, by Tpr. S. M. Morton. Both subjects were detained, separated and searched pending further investigation. Located as the operator of the vehicle, Devonte Saquan Claggett, 19, of Port Republic, was also held on the scene following further investigation. A search of the vehicle revealed another handgun that was seized. None of the subjects were willingly claiming ownership of the handguns, however, queries through NCIC and MGUN databases revealed that both handguns were involved in theft cases handled by Calvert County Sheriff's Department. All three subjects were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Searches of their person revealed that Mr. Middleton and Mr. Dawkins were additionally in possession of CDS. All subjects were charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, November 19 at 3:30pm, TFC G. A. Thompson conducted a traffic stop on a silver passenger vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Horsehead Road and Maryland Route 237. Upon contacting the operator, identified as Charell Latrice Stewart, 27, of Lexington Park, TFC Thompson detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Ms. Stewart was asked to exit the vehicle and probable cause search was conducted revealing Marijuana hidden in multiple areas of the vehicle, including Ms. Stewart's handbag and the center console. Ms. Stewart was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS - Marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, December 2 at 3:00am, TFC B. T. Wiesemann served an Arrest Warrant (T3-15245) on Christopher Vines Sutton, 39, of Waldorf. The warrant was issued on May 25 by the District Court of Prince George's County. The original charge was Theft Less Than $1000.00 Value. Mr. Sutton was located on a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Maryland Route 237. Upon confirmation of the warrant he was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, December 2 at 1:00pm, TFC E. J. Page served a Bench Warrant (T3-15246) on Tranesia Janeen Scriber, 35, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued on December 2 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License. Ms. Scriber was located at the Applebee's in California and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, December 3 at 12:44am, TFC E. M. Evans served a Bench Warrant (T3-15242) on Jeffery W. Roberts, Jr., 25, of Great Mills. The warrant was issued with an original charge of CDS Possession - Paraphernalia on November 29 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Roberts was located at the Cheeseburger in Paradise in Hollywood and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, December 4 at 7:30am, TFC E. J. Page served a Bench Warrant (T3-15247) on Timothy Daniel Prohaska, 49, of Mechanicsville. The warrant was issued with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License on December 2 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Prohaska was located in the 39000 block of Wisteria Court in Mechanicsville and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, December 5 at 1:19pm, TFC E. J. Page transported Jason Russell Labille, 38, of Mechanicsville to the Charles County Detention Center. Mr. Labille was located in the 39000 block of Golden Beach Road in Mechanicsville and transported to the Detention Center for a warrant service. The warrant was issued on August 5 by the Circuit Court of Charles County with an original charge of CDS Possession - Not Marijuana. Mr. Labille was transported to the Detention Center, served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, December 7 at 10:55am, Sgt. C. A. Tyer served a Bench Warrant (T3-14689) on Wilmont Francis Smith, 20, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued on November 27, 2010 with an original charge of Third Degree Burglary by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Smith was located in the 48000 block of Windward Circle in Lexington Park and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
