Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (November 23, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On Nov. 21 at 1:15 p.m., officers responded to the 15000 block of Regina Avenue in Brandywine for the report of a burglary that just occurred. Witnesses said the suspect broke into a trailer and stole several guns. Officers established a perimeter and a K-9 performed a track. The K-9 located one of the stolen weapons and other evidence. Officers are working on leads. PFC J. Morales is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Nov. 20 between 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 6800 block of Winona Place in Hughesville and stole game systems, electronics and jewelry. PFC D. Butler is investigating.

SHOOTING REPORTED: On Nov. 20 at 9:11 p.m., officers responded to Ell Lane in Waldorf for the sound of gunshots. Officers canvassed the area but found no signs of a shooting and no victims. At 10:15 p.m., officers received a call from Southern Maryland Hospital in reference to a male who came in with a gunshot wound. The victim, 25, would only tell officers he was with a group of friends who were in an altercation somewhere in Waldorf when known suspects fired a shot. The victim and his friends fled and drove to the hospital after the victim noticed he had a wound to his leg. Officer J. Campbell is investigating.

OFFICER RECOVERS STOLEN CAR: On Nov. 20 at 8:50 p.m., a CCSO patrol officer received an alert from an agency issued tag reader that a stolen Nissan Maxima was nearby. The officer located the car and confirmed it had been reported stolen from another county. A traffic stop was initiated near Chapman's Landing Road and the occupants were arrested without incident. Officers located a black BB gun and drugs inside the car. The driver, 17, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of a handgun. A passenger, Donnell Gregory Braxton, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a handgun. PFC S. Miller made the arrest.

BURGLARY: Between Nov. 19 - Nov. 20, unknown suspect(s) stole tools from an unlocked shed in the 700 block of Hatfield Court in Waldorf. PFC J. Foster is investigating.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Nov. 19 at 9:10 p.m., an unknown suspect grabbed a purse from a woman who was leaving a pizza carryout business in the 300 block of Smallwood Drive in Waldorf. The suspect fled to a nearby neighborhood. Officers canvassed the area and are working on leads. PFC. D. Arends is investigating.

THEFT: Between Nov. 17 - Nov. 18, unknown suspect(s) stole wheels and rims from a car parked in the 3700 block of Primrose Drive in Waldorf. Patrol officers spotted the car and notified the owner. Wheels and rims were also reported stolen from a car parked in the Riverside Run neighborhood. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
