Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (November 10, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

OFFICERS APPREHEND HIT AND RUN DRIVER: On Nov. 4 at 1:29 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of St. Patrick's Drive in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash. A preliminary investigation showed the driver of a vehicle struck an embankment which caused his car to launch over a parked car and strike two parked cars nearby. The driver of the striking vehicle got out of his vehicle and fled on foot. When the first officer arrived, several citizens directed him to a wooded area where the suspect fled. The officer pursued the suspect into the woods and subsequently arrested him. Brandon Dexter Williams, 26, of White Plains, was charged with multiple traffic violations and resisting arrest. The Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.

OFFICERS LOCATE SUSPECT IN ATTEMPT BURGLARY: On Nov. 4 at 12:05 a.m., officers responded to the 4500 block of Orleans Lane in Waldorf for the report of a suspicious male who was armed with a knife. When officers arrived, they located the man in the front yard of a vacant house. Officers canvassed the area and found the suspect had damaged and broke the rear sliding glass door to the house. Further investigation showed the suspect rang the front door at a neighboring house and when he didn't get an immediate answer, went to the rear of the house where tried to gain entry. The suspect, Martin Joseph Knudson, 24, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with attempt burglary, destruction of property and carrying a weapon. Officer B. Kunz is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Nov. 3 between 7 a.m. - 5:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 2000 block of Tanglewood Drive in Waldorf and stole a handgun. Two teenaged males were seeing running from the direction of the victim's house. PFC R. Garrett is investigating.
