LEONARDTOWN, Md. (November 1, 2011)The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.
SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On October 29, deputies responded to a residence on Megan Lane in Lexington Park for a check the welfare call. Upon arrival, the deputies contacted the individual for which they were there to check the welfare. The woman/victim revealed Shawn Allen Redman, 22, of Lexington Park, slapped her and pulled her out of a vehicle. The victim displayed visible signs of injury. Redman was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On October 31 at approximately 3:00 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on Our Drive Way in Leonardtown for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Gokhan Donald Ilhan Oztas, 27, of no fixed address, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Oztas punched the victim numerous times in the face and head. A third party attempted to stop Oztas from assaulting the individual. Oztas struck that victim in the face splitting her lip. Oztas fled the residence prior to the arrival of deputies but was located a short time later, arrested and charged with two counts of second degree assault.
THEFT: On October 27, Cpl. Jason Maletto and Deputy Worrey responded to a theft in progress at a residence in St. Inigoes. Upon arrival, they found Michael T. Drinks, 43, of Cobb Island, being detained by the home owner. The home owner heard a noise coming from the front yard and when they went to investigate they found a van in their driveway with Drinks pouring the home owner's gas into his vehicle. The home owner confronted Drinks and detained him until Sheriff's deputies could arrive. Drinks was arrested, charged with theft, and released to the custody of the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE: On October 25, detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Special Victim's Unit, initiated an investigation into allegations that George Leonard Frye, 63, of Dameron, sexually assaulted two female children under the age of 13 who were in his care and custody in 2005 while serving as a foster parent. Frye was subsequently charged with two counts of Child Sexual Abuse and two counts of 4th Degree Sex Offense. Frye was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being held on $25,000 bond.
