St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (October 27, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

SEEKING INFO ON FATAL SHOOTING: On August 24 at 11:38 p.m., police units responded to the area of Sell Drive in Lexington Park for the report of a motor vehicle striking a tree. Upon police arrival it was determined the operator of the vehicle, Deandre Agustus Hawkins, age 20, of Lexington Park, had suffered a fatal gunshot wound in his upper torso. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Detective R. McCoy at 301-475-4200 Ext. 9119. If the caller's tip leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for this crime, the caller may receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On October 23 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Deputy Ellis responded to a residence on Ritz Drive in Lexington Park for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Sonya Tamara Roberts, 41 of Lexington Park, engaged in an argument with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Roberts scratched the victim. Roberts was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On October 23 at approximately 7:00 a.m., Corporal Porter responded to a residence on Army-Navy Drive in Mechanicsville for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Clifford Worth Payne, 32 of Mechanicsville, was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim. The dispute escalated and Payne punched the victim in her face, head, and body. Payne was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On October 22 at approximately 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Iverson Drive in Great Mills for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Dustin Paul Lorraine, 34 of Great Mills, engaged in an argument with the victim. During the argument Lorraine grabbed the victim by her hair and threw her to the ground. Deputy Ellis responded to the scene and arrested Lorraine who was charged with second degree assault.

DRUG ARREST: On October 22 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Deputy Knott responded to a suspicious vehicle parked on Towey Court in Great Mills. The driver was identified as Tyneshia-Ranea Parker, 19 of Lexington Park. Deputy First Class George and his K-9 partner responded and performed an exterior scan of the vehicle. Based upon the K-9 scan a probable search of the vehicle was performed by Deputy Knott. Deputy Knott located a baggie of suspected marijuana under the driver's seat. Parker was arrested and charged with possession of CDS.

THEFT: On October 22 at approximately 2:10 a.m., a broadcast was transmitted by Deputy First Class Stone for a black Honda Civic traveling north on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, which displayed stolen Maryland tags. The vehicle was located by responding deputies and a traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of North Essex Drive and Enterprise Road in Lexington Park. The driver was identified as Devin Wayne Michael Herrod, 19 of Leonardtown; the passenger was identified as James Daniel Seifert, 19, of Leonardtown. Both the tags and the vehicle were confirmed to be stolen. During a search of the vehicle, marijuana paraphernalia and suspected marijuana were located in the center console of the vehicle. Herrod and Seifert were arrested and charged with Unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, theft under $10,000, theft under $1,000, theft less than $100, CDS possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

DRUG ARREST: On October 22 at approximately 12:15 a.m., deputies responded to Dark Star Way in California for a report of suspicious persons loitering in the area. Deputy Wood responded to the area and located Elizabeth Bailey Wheeler, 18 Lexington Park. While speaking with Wheeler, Deputy Wood observed in plain view a baggie containing suspected marijuana. During a probable cause search of Wheeler's purse, Deputy Wood located CDS paraphernalia. Deputy Wood also checked the immediate area where Nicholas Stephen Spurling, 19 of Lexington Park was standing. Deputy Wood located a baggie containing suspected marijuana. Wheeler was charged with possession of CDS and CDS paraphernalia. Spurling was charged with CDS possession.

THREAT OF ARSON: On October 26 at approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Midway Drive and North Essex Drive for a report of a disturbance. Two witnesses report that Patrick Shawn Daly, 21 of Lexington Park, was out in the street yelling at the victim's residence that he was going to "shoot the house up and burn it down." Deputy Grusholt arrested Daly and charged him with threat of arson.
