Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (October 26, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On Oct. 22 at 9:18 p.m., a homeowner called police to report a burglary that occurred at a house for sale in the 3800 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf. It is not clear when the burglary occurred but copper piping was stolen. PFC D. Walker is investigating.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY REPORTED: On Oct. 21 at 9:15 p.m., officers responded to a prowler complaint in the 3000 block of Walnut Lane in Waldorf. Investigation showed the homeowner's dogs were barking and when the homeowner investigated, they saw a male wearing dark clothing running away from their backyard and climbing over a fence. POI R. Walls is investigating.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Oct. 20 at 6:25 p.m., officers responded to check on the welfare of a person who was walking in the middle of the street in the 9300 block of Gunston Road in Welcome. When officers arrived, they were flagged down by several witnesses who said they pulled over to check on the person and when they did, he began banging on their truck. Officers located the suspect and when they approached, he turned toward one officer in an aggressive manner. The man was subdued and officers found cocaine in his pocket. Corey Brooke Payne, 49, of Accokeek, was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of cocaine and he was served an open warrant for violation of probation.

BURGLARY: On Oct. 20 between 5 a.m. - 4 p.m., suspect(s) broke into a house in the 1100 block of Falmouth Road in Waldorf and stole computers and jewelry. POI R. Walls is investigating.
