Another Driver Dies on So. Md. Roads

CALIFORNIA, Md. (October 18, 2011)—Just days after three lives were lost on local roadways, the tri-county area has suffered another death due to a vehicle accident. Carlin Denard Biles, 20, of Fort Washington, died as a result of injuries received in an accident which occurred on Monday evening on Mattawoman Beantown Road (MD 205) near Chaney Place in Waldorf.

Maryland State Police investigated and determined that Mr. Biles was traveling northbound on Route 205 south of Chaney Place in a 2012 Ford Focus around 6:13 p.m. A 2007 MCI Bus, driven by Anthony Ricardo Fairchild, 46, of Glenarden, was pulling out of the Park and Ride intending to continue southbound on 205. Police say the bus failed to yield right of way and was struck by Mr. Biles' vehicle.

Mr. Biles was originally transported to So. Maryland Hospital and then later transported to Washington Hospital Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Mr. Fairchild was transported to So. Maryland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fifteen passengers were on the bus at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported.

Police say the determining factor of the accident was the bus driver's failure to yield the right of way.
