CALIFORNIA, Md. (October 5, 2011)—Governor Martin OMalley today announced Board of Public Works (BPW) approval of recreational projects in 17 counties and Baltimore City through local-side Program Open Space and the Community Parks and Playgrounds Program. One project in the tri-county area has been approved and funded. La Plata will receive $100,000 to construct
a parking area at Tilghman Lake Park.
The three-member Board of Public Works is composed of Governor OMalley (chair), Treasurer Nancy Kopp and Comptroller Peter Franchot. The BPW is authorized by the General Assembly to approve major construction and consultant contracts, equipment purchases, property transactions and other procurement actions.
