Drug Arrests in St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (September 30, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division, and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Mary’s County.

CRACK COCAINE SALES: Thomas Elwood Barber, 51, of Lexington Park, was reported to be selling Crack Cocaine in a Lexington Park neighborhood. Undercover purchases were made and detectives presented the cases to the St. Mary's County Grand Jury. Arrest warrants were issued and Suspect Barber was arrested. He is being held without bond.

HEROIN ARRESTS: Vice narcotics detectives have been conducting an investigation over the last several weeks into a possible heroin trafficking team from the city of Detroit. As the investigation continued, detectives found that Dwight McLendon, a/k/a "Chip," 32 of Detroit, Michigan and Quintel Deyon Wyatt, a/k/a "Q," 32, of Warran, Michigan were traveling by bus to Washington, D.C. The two would come to St. Mary's County and utilize various locations to sell heroin. Detective identified the specific location in Park Hall shortly after the suspects arrived. A Search and Seizure Warrant was executed. As Emergency Services Team members entered the home, Suspect McLendon was flushing numerous bags of heroin. From the bathroom location and various other locations inside the home, nearly $11,000 in heroin was recovered along with almost $1,000 in cash. Suspects McLendon and Wyatt were arrested and charged. Additional charges and arrests are expected.

FORGED PRESCRIPTIONS FOR OXYCODONE: Vice narcotics detectives began an investigation into John Robert Garner, 29, of Lusby, utilizing forged and counterfeit prescriptions to obtain Oxycodone. Those pills had a street value of more than $5,000. Suspect Garner was charged with various forgery counts as well as Possession with the Intent to Distribute.

CRACK COCAINE ARREST, PAROLE VIOLATION: Vice narcotics detectives observed a wanted suspect, Larry Darnell Harrod, 31, of Leonardtown, in the parking lot of a California business. Detectives began to monitor his movements and a Sheriff's Office patrol deputy was requested. Suspect Harrod was observed selling crack cocaine and was apprehended along with the two purchasers. Suspect Michael Anthony Moran, 25, of Leonardtown, was found to be in possession of cocaine and a hypodermic needle. Suspect James Brook Smith, 45, of Leonardtown, was arrested for possession of crack cocaine. Suspect Harrod was found to be in possession of nearly $3,000 worth of Crack Cocaine as well as 22 prescription pills. His vehicle, a 1997 Mazda, and cash were also seized. Additional charges are pending against Suspect Harrod who was wanted by the Department of Corrections for Violation of Parole.

DRUG SALES AT LEGIT STORE: The Sheriff's Office received complaints of illegal drug and drug paraphernalia sales at a Callaway store known as the Corner Store. An investigation led to the execution of a search and seizure warrant. It was revealed that the owner and his employee were selling "K-2" synthetic marijuana, marijuana, crack cocaine smoking devices, digital scales, and drug packaging material, among other drug related items. Nearly 200 grams of synthetic marijuana was recovered and over 210 smoking devices. Approximately $4,500 worth of illegal product was seized. Charges are pending a review with the State's Attorney.

DRUG INDICTMENT ARREST: O'Bryan Keith Lincoln, 20, of Mechanicsville, was arrested on an open vice narcotics indictment. Suspect Lincoln was arrested by Charles County Sheriff's Office deputies and faced additional charges in that jurisdiction before he was turned over to St. Mary's authorities. His local charges included Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana with the intent to Distribute.

DRUG WARRANT ARREST: Jessica Adele Kearney, 25, of Hollywood, was arrested on multiple warrants. Vice narcotics detectives presented cases to the St. Mary's County Grand Jury which included conspiring to distribute prescription medication and possession with intent to distribute prescription medication. The medications included Xanax, Morphine, and Oxycodone. She is currently housed in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

OXYCODONE INDICTMENT ARREST: John Michael Jackson, 36, of Avenue, was arrested after being indicted by vice narcotics detectives for Possession of Oxycodone with Intent to Distribute. He was originally held without bond.

PRESCRIPTION FRAUD INDICTMENT ARREST: Brittney Michelle Wood, 23, of Mechanicsville, was indicted by vice narcotics detectives and subsequently arrested for Prescription Fraud. Additional charges are pending.

MARIJUANA ARREST: Sabrina Leigh Hall, 32, of Leonardtown, was charged after a search and seizure warrant was executed on her Leonardtown home. Marijuana and related drug paraphernalia was seized. Additional charges are pending a review with the State's Attorney.

DRUG INDICTMENT ARREST: Melvin Jerome Price, 30, of Clements, was arrested on an open Grand Jury indictment for felony drugs charges to include Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute. Suspect Price has been avoiding apprehension for the last several months. He was taken into custody without incident.

OXYCODONE ARREST: Vice narcotics detectives observed Meghan Frances Coll, 23, of Park Hall, and William Ford Cryer, 46, of Leonardtown, both snorting crushed prescription medication. Suspect Coll then began to drive her vehicle on the roadway. She was immediately stopped and arrested. Additional controlled substances were discovered hidden on her person. Suspect Cryer was found with more than 170 Oxycodone tablets. The total street value of what was recovered was more than $5,100. Both suspects are facing additional charges pending a case review with the State's Attorney.

MARIJUANA INDICTMENT ARREST: Michael DeAngelo Davis, 27, of Redgate, was arrested on an open Grand Jury Indictment for Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute. He was found with more than one pound of marijuana and several thousand dollars in cash.

ARRESTED FOR SELLING FAKE OXYCODONE: Jennifer Michelle Schaming, 25, of Lusby, was identified as a distributor of prescription medication. Suspect Scheming negotiated with an undercover officer to sell a quantity of Oxycodone. An exchange was made (product for money) and the pills provided were fake. She was indicted for distributing a substance offered as a controlled substance. She was originally held without bond.

MARIJUANA ARREST: A vehicle stop was conducted and the operator of the vehicle Jeb J. McWade, 29, of Lexington Park, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana that indicated his intent to distribute. Vice narcotics detectives searched his home and additional marijuana and distribution paraphernalia was recovered. His Jeep Cherokee was seized and he faces additional felony charges pending a State's Attorney's Office review.

INMATE CONSPIRES TO RECEIVE CONTRABAND: Edwin Rowe Kline, 32, an inmate at the St. Mary's County Detention Center, was charged with three counts of Conspiring to receive Contraband into a Correctional Facility. Additional charges are to follow.
