Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (September 6, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CCSO LOCATES DRIVER INVOLVED IN HIT-AND-RUN CRASH OF BICYCLIST ON CHAPEL POINT ROAD: The Sheriff's Office, Traffic Operations Unit, has located the driver of the vehicle that struck a bicyclist on Chapel Point Road last Thursday, Sept. 1 and left the victim critically injured. The driver and the striking vehicle were located on Saturday, Sept. 3. The victim, Thomas Mark Roepcke, 47, of Port Tobacco, remains in critical condition in a nearby hospital. The driver is not being identified at this time and the investigation is on-going.

THEFT: Between Sept. 4 - Sept. 5, a 2008 KTM dual sport motorcycle was stolen from a platform hitch in the 12000 block of Pierce Road in Waldorf. Officer J. Campbell is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Sept. 2 between 6:50 a.m. - 6:45 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 2800 block of Waters Edge in Bryans Road and stole jewelry and game systems. Officer M. Mellott is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Sept. 2 between 12:45 p.m. - 2 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 4600 block of Harwich Drive in Waldorf and stole computers and money. Officer S. Duley is investigating.

THEFT: On Sept. 2, during the overnight hours, four wheels and rims were stolen from a car in the 600 block of University Drive in Waldorf. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.

POSSESSION OF DRUGS/POSSESSION OF BB GUN ON SCHOOL PROPERTY: On Sept. 1, a CCSO school resource officer assigned to Henry Lackey High School, 3000 Chicamuxen Road, Indian Head, recovered several small baggies of suspected marijuana from an 18-year-old male. The student was charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute. In an unrelated case the same day, a 15-year-old male was found to be in possession of a BB gun on school property. He was charged with possession of a weapon and released to a parent. Officer K. Evans investigated.
