MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (August 22, 2011)—The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DUI, DRUG ARREST: On August 19 at approximately 12:45 a.m., TFC W. Posey was on routine patrol traveling southbound Route 5, north of Pika Drive when he observed a black Cadillac swerving in and out of its lane. TFC Posey stopped the vehicle and made contact with Phillip (NMN) Lewis, 28, of Upper Marlboro, when he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Lewis’ breath. Lewis was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also charged with possession of crack-cocaine and paraphernalia.

WARRANT ARREST, DRUG ARREST: On August 21 at approximately 1:47 a.m., TFC S. Murphy was patrolling southbound U.S. Route 301 at Mall Circle when he observed a blue Ford Taurus with a cracked taillight emitting a bright white light. TFC Murphy stopped the vehicle and made contact with Joseph Edward Morris, Jr., 25, of Waldorf. A check through MVA/MILES/NCIC revealed Morris had an open warrant for Malicious Destruction of Property through the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. Morris was arrested. Morris was also charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
