MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 22, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, August 14 at 12:26am, TFC N. E. Gresko conducted a traffic stop on a silver Toyota for a traffic violation in the area of Golden Beach Road and Oaks Drive in Mechanicsville. Upon making contact with the vehicle, TFC Gresko observed and case of beer and several consumed cans on the floorboard of the passenger side. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as John Martinez Neale, Jr., 22, of Barstow, and Rodriguez Cornelius Hagens, 30, of Waldorf. While speaking with the occupants, TFC Gresko detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle, as well as the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the operator, Mr. Neale's breath. Mr. Neale was asked to exit the vehicle for a probable cause search of the vehicle as well as to perform a Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Mr. Neale was successful in completing the test. A search of Mr. Neale's person was met with negative results. Mr. Hagens was also searched revealing negative results. However, a search of the vehicle, revealed CDS in the area of the center console of the vehicle. Mr. Hagens and Mr. Neale were both placed under arrest for Possession of CDS - Marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. They were charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Sunday, August 14 at 1:14am, TFC E. Page made a traffic stop on a red BMW for a traffic violation in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Maryland Route 246, the vehicle turned into the Sheetz parking lot. The operator of the vehicle parked and attempted to exit the vehicle but was instructed to remain inside. Upon making contact with the operator, he was extremely aggressive towards TFC Page and agitated about the situation, continuously questioning why he was stopped. The subject refused to provide information to TFC Page and continued to act in an aggressive manner requiring him to be detained for the safety of all parties involved. The subject, later identified as Myron Stone Scriber, 44, of Callaway was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct as he continued causing a disturbance and yelling profanities. A check of Mr. Scriber's license privileges also determined he was operating the vehicle on a Suspended and Revoked License. Mr. Scriber was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, August 15 at 7:30am, TFC A. J. Malaspina served a Bench Warrant (T3-15085) on Joseph Pinkney Smith, 63, of Lusby. The warrant was issued for Failure to Perform Contract on November 30, 2009 by the District Court of Calvert County. Mr. Smith was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, August 15 at 11:43am, TFC J. G. Fleetwood served an outstanding Circuit Court Warrant (T3-15039) on John Waring Raley, 46, of Leonardtown. The warrant was issued as a result of a Grand Jury Indictment for Adult Abuse / Physical Injury by the Circuit Court of St. Mary's County on July 11. Mr. Raley was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, August 15 at 2:31pm, TFC J. G. Fleetwood served an Arrest Warrant (T3-15088) on Elvis Wade Pace, 33, of Hollywood. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on July 15 as a result of a Department of Natural Resources investigation. Mr. Pace was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, August 15 at 11:15pm, TFC J. C. Hardesty served a Bench Warrant (T3-15087) on Anna Drue Mizak, 22, of Great Mills. The warrant was issued by the District Court of Calvert County on August 15 with an original charge of Theft Less Than $1000.00 Value. Ms. Mizak was located in the area of Maryland Route 246 and Suburban Drive in Lexington Park and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $1000: On Tuesday, August 16 at 5:25pm, TFC E. M. Evans responded to the K-Mart on Alton Lane in California for a reported shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, contact was made with loss prevention personnel who advised that a male subject was observed placing two playstation controllers into a shopping cart and attempted to exit the store via a side door without purchasing the items. The male subject was stopped by loss prevention and escorted to an office until law enforcement arrival. TFC Evans then made contact with the subject in custody, William Jerome Swales, 32, of Lexington Park. Mr. Swales provided a statement to TFC Evans and was placed under arrest for Theft Under $1000.00. Mr. Swales was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. The items were returned to the retail establishment.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Wednesday, August 17 at 5:40pm, TFC E. M. Evans responded to the 46000 block of Lei Drive in Lexington Park for a reported Unwanted Guest. Upon arrival, contact was made with a disorderly subject, Vernon Edward Freeland, 43, of Lexington Park. Mr. Freeland was observed to be yelling, causing a distraction and screaming profanities. Mr. Freeland proclaimed that he was kicked out of the Three Oaks Shelter and that property of his remained in the facility. Following numerous requests to Mr. Freeland for him to act in an orderly fashion, his failure to do so resulted in him being placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. Mr. Freeland was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
