MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 15, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, August 9 at 1:42pm, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann conducted a traffic stop on a Hyundai Santa Fe in the area of Maryland Route 237 and Nancy Lane in Great Mills for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the vehicle, Tpr. Wiesemann attempted to identify occupants of the vehicle. The female operator was successfully identified by her Maryland Driver's License. However, attempts to identify the male passenger were unsuccessful as he appeared to be providing a false name. The male passenger was asked to exit the vehicle, and subsequently detained until he could be positively identified. A search of the subject's person in an attempt to locate identification resulted in the discovery of CDS wrapped in US Currency. The subject then became cooperative and provided Tpr. Wiesemann was his correct information. Arrested for the Possession of CDS was Dennis Christopher Taylor, 27, of Hollywood. A further search of Mr. Taylor's person revealed additional CDS being concealed in his shoes. Mr. Taylor was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, August 9 at 4:46pm, TFC N. E. Gresko initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Intrepid in the area of Route 249 and Springer Road in Valley Lee for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator, Sean Michael Patton, 21, of Leonardtown, TFC Gresko detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. TFC Gresko questioned Mr. Patton about the possibility of illegal items in the vehicle. Information provided by Mr. Patton resulted in a probable cause search of the vehicle. The search of the vehicle revealed CDS and CDS Paraphernalia both in the center console and rear of the vehicle. Mr. Patton was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS and CDS Paraphernalia. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, August 11 at 2:50pm, TFC G. A. Thompson conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan passenger vehicle in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Buck Hewitt Road for a traffic violation. While approaching the vehicle, TFC Thompson observed a rear passenger of the vehicle attempting to conceal something within the cushions of the vehicle. TFC Thompson made contact with the occupants and identified all occupants. While doing so, the odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. All subjects were required to exit the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted. The search revealed CDS in the rear of the vehicle as well as in a black book bag located on the floor board of the front passenger seat. The owner of the book bag was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS and identified as a male subject, 17, of Lexington Park. An attempt to determine ownership of the remaining CDS located in the vehicle was unsuccessful, subsequently the three remaining juveniles, ranging in age from 16 to 17, of Lexington Park were arrested for Possession of CDS. All subjects were transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing and were released to guardians pending further action by Juvenile Services.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Friday, August 12 at 2:12am, Tpr. E. R. Mersman responded to the 28000 block of Wood Burn Hill Road in Mechanicsville for a reported assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with William Sylvester Watts, Jr., 34, of Mechanicsville who advised he was involved in an argument with a female complainant, 50, of Mechanicsville while at an event earlier in the evening. According to Mr. Watts the verbal argument continued from the original location to the vehicle while both subjects traveled to their residence. In accounting the nights events, Mr. Watts referenced assaulting the female subject. Following his conversation with Mr. Watts, Tpr. Mersman made contact with the female complainant, who also provided an account of the evening similar to the one provided by Mr. Watts. Based on information provided and evidence observed, Mr. Watts was placed under arrest for Second Degree Assault. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Friday, August 12 at 9:40pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher along with a St. Mary's County Deputy responded to the 30000 block of Mount Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female witness, 55, of Huntingtown who advised that Maurice Franklin Jacks, 49, of Huntingtown had been drinking while in her vehicle, and she refused to provide him with a ride to his residence because he was intoxicated. Contact was then made with Mr. Jacks who provided the same account and the complainant; however, he was irate and speaking in a loud manner. Mr. Jacks was informed that he needed to remain calm and lower his voice or he would be arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Mr. Jacks subsequently left the scene on foot and the female complainant left the scene in her vehicle. TFC Pitcher observed the female complainant respond to the nearby Wawa for fuel, as well as Mr. Jacks responding the same area of foot. TFC Pitcher responded to the area as well as a precautionary measure. While at the Wawa, TFC Pitcher observed another verbal altercation occur between Mr. Jacks and the female complainant. Mr. Jacks was again disruptive to his surroundings, and was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, August 13 at 6:30am, TFC N. E. Gresko served an outstanding Circuit Court Warrant (T3-15082) on Raymond Keith Meredith, 41, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued as a result of a Grand Jury Indictment for First Degree Assault on August 11 by the Circuit Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Meredith was located in the area of Lord Calvert Trailer Park in Lexington Park and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, August 14 at 11:30pm, TFC N. E. Gresko served a Bench Warrant (T3-14969) on Thomas Levin Ryce, 30, of Bushwood. The warrant was issued with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License by the District Court of St. Mary's County on June 1. Mr. Ryce was located in the 27000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
