Crews will Close Up to Two Lanes Weeknights through Early August beginning this Sunday
(July 15, 2011)—On Sunday night, July 17, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin three weeks of overnight single and double lane closures to pave
southbound I-95 between MD 198 (exit 33) and MD 212 (exit 29) as part of the Intercounty Connector (ICC) project.
One lane on southbound I-95 is permitted to be closed between MD 198 and MD 212 weeknights beginning at 7 p.m. Two lanes will close at 11 p.m. with all lanes on southbound I-95 to open by 6 a.m. each morning. All lanes will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings.
SHA recommends motorists on southbound I-95 consider alternate routes including MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) or US 29 (Columbia Pike) to avoid delays. Overhead variable message signs will alert motorists in advance of the work and during the lane closures.
Crews will pave the northbound lanes of I-95 between MD 212 and MD 198 beginning mid to late August. The entire ICC is expected to open to traffic later this year or early 2012.
