St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 8, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: On July 7, Corporal William Ray responded to the K-MART Store in California for a reported theft. Cpl. Ray learned Eric Owen Drew Slankard, 20, of Lusby, was observed by store staff concealing merchandise on his person and then attempted to exit the business. When confronted, Slankard was found in possession of ten video games with a total value of $149.90. Slankard was charged on a criminal citation for theft and released pending a court appearance.

ASSAULT: On July 8, Deputy Cory Ellis responded to a residence in Lexington Park for an assault. Upon arrival, Deputy Ellis learned Joseph Wade Barnes, 48, of Lexington Park, became involved in an argument with his wife. During the argument, Barnes struck the victim causing injury. Joseph Wade Barnes was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
