CALIFORNIA, Md. (July 5, 2011)—Two more vehicles were torched by arsonists early this morning; one in Bryans Road, Charles County and the other in Lexington Park, St. Mary's County. Just last Thursday, a 2005 BMW, reported stolen from Solomons earlier in the evening,
was found torched in St. James in St. Mary's Co.
Bryans Road Arson
Deputy fire marshals say unknown suspects intentionally set fire to a 2006 Saturn Ion around 1:50 a.m., causing exterior damage near the fuel door and fuel tank resulting in an estimated $1,200 in damages. The vehicle was parked at 2G Hampton Court in Bryans Road and is owned by Niyomi Butler.
Investigators say the fire was started at the exterior of vehicle, near the fuel tank. The fire was discovered by a neighbor.
Five firefighters from the Bryans Road VFD responded.
Lexington Park Arson
Deputy fire marshals say unknown suspects intentionally set fire to a 2001 Ford F250 around 3:59 a.m., causing exterior damage near the fuel door and minor interior smoke damage,
resulting in an estimated $500 in damages. The vehicle was parked at 21350 Castaway Circle in Lexington Park and is owned by Emily Olson.
Investigators say the fire was started in the interior ashtray and exterior fuel spout. The fire was discovered by a neighbor.
Five firefighters from the Bay District VFD responded.
Deputy Fire Marshal Caryn Moreland investigated both fires.
