LA PLATA, Md. (July 3, 2011)—The long-awaited project to replace the Nanjemoy Community Center floor is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 5.
The estimated completion date for this major construction project is mid to late September. The Center will be closed to the general public throughout the renovation period.
Serious structural problems with the floor were discovered in Spring 2010 during the course of normal repairs.
Nanjemoy Senior Center programs will temporarily relocate to First Baptist Church (FBC) Welcome, located at 6735 Port Tobacco Road in Welcome, beginning in July. Senior Center hours will be Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. 2 p.m. Two intergenerational programs Childrens Story Hour held on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Lets Move held on Thursdays at 10 a.m. will also be offered at FBC Welcome. The Greater Baden Health Clinic, which occupies space within the Nanjemoy Community Center building, will remain open during their regularly scheduled operating hours, as there is a separate, secure entrance to the clinic.
