MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (June 29, 2011)—The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA, DUI: On 6/21/11 at 8:18 pm, Trooper Evans stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Chisholm Trail at Thunderbird Drive in Lusby. The driver, William H. Vaughn, 30, of Lusby, was arrested for DUI after failing sobriety tests. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: On 6/22/11 at 12:26 pm, Trooper First Class Sorenson responded to HG Trueman Rd at Southern Connector Blvd. in Lusby for an Industrial Accident. A State Highway employee was struck in the head with a steel metal digging bar while attempting to remove a broken street sign. He received treatment at the hospital and was released.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6/22/11 at 4:37 pm, Trooper First Class Evans stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on St. Leonard Road at Calvert Beach Road in St. Leonard. A K9 scan of the vehicle yielded a positive alert. Based on the alert, a search was conducted and the passenger, Joel T. Stauffer, 22, of St. Leonard, was found to be in possession of Marijuana. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6/23/11 at 12:16 am, Trooper West stopped a vehicle on Rt. 261 at Brownie's Beach in Chesapeake Beach for traffic violations. An odor of marijuana was detected in the vehicle and a search revealed the driver, Christopher J. Grochowski, 25, of Port Republic, was in possession of Marijuana. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT: On 6/25/11 at 5:13 pm, Sergeant Barth received a report of a stolen Maryland registration tag 811525G from a boat trailer while parked at the Benedict Boat Ramp. Investigation continues.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, RESISTING ARREST: On 6/25/11 at 11:40 pm, Trooper Oles responded to White Sands Drive and Ridgeview Drive in Lusby for a reported fight in progress. During the investigation, Jarrel L. Gantt, 22, of Capitol Heights, was acting in a disorderly manner and was disturbing residents in the area. While attempting to place the subject under arrest, he became combative with the Trooper and resisted arrest. He was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT: On 6/26/11 at 1:23 pm, Trooper First Class Saucerman responded the Sneads Hardware store in Lusby for a reported theft. The Trooper located the suspect on Monticello Drive in Solomons. Anna D. Mazak, 22, of Great Mills, was found to possess two coils of copper wire she had stolen from the store. She was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.
