Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (June 27, 2011)—The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: During the week of June 20 through June 26, deputies responded to 1,622 calls for service throughout the community.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On June 22 at 9:41 p.m., DFC J. Harms was on routine patrol in the area of Beach Elementary School in Chesapeake Beach when he observed a vehicle parked in the parking lot with one occupant. Prior to making contact with the vehicle occupant, a female walked from behind a sign and contacted DFC Harms. She advised that the driver of the vehicle had given her a ride to that location in order to meet with a family member. Harms observed that the woman had slurred speech and had trouble keeping her balance. Further investigation revealed that she was in possession of suspected drugs as well as a large amount of cash. Harms arrested Vickie Lee Mayhew, 46, of Chesapeake Beach, and charged her with possession of Oxycodone in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute, possession of Oxycodone and use of drug paraphernalia, a metal grinder.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle overnight between June 23 and 24 while it was parked in the driveway of a home on Balsom Road in Lusby. One 8GB Ipod Touch valued at $210 was stolen. DFC R. Weems is handling the investigation.

BURGLARY: A home on Howard Drive in Port Republic was burglarized on June 24 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The culprit(s) stole a lock box containing cash, credit cards and personal papers, together valued at over $1000. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC R. Weems at 410-535-2800.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: A concerned citizen called police on June 25 at 10:02 a.m. after they observed a 15-year-old male lying on the ground of the basket ball court on Catalina Drive in Lusby. After approaching the juvenile, the citizen observed a large sum of money and a pill bottle next to him. Cpl. S. Parrish arrived and contacted the youth, who was standing but appeared unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. He was found to be in possession of suspected drugs. Parrish charged the juvenile, of Lusby, on a youth report with possession with intent to distribute Morphine and possession of marijuana. He was released to a parent.

THEFT: Someone stole a black 2009 Qingqi scooter from in front of a home on Dayton Avenue in North Beach between June 24 and 25. The scooter is valued at $1000. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC A. Locke at 410-535-2800.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: DFC R. Weems responded to the report of a large fight in the roadway at White Sands Drive and Sycamore Road in Lusby on June 26 shortly after midnight. He observed a female and a male attempting to force another male into a car. Weems determined that the woman was the mother of the male. She was attempting to have her son leave the scene because he wanted to return to a party and fight with subjects he said assaulted him. The woman, later identified as Lori Ann Gantt, 47 of Lusby, became disorderly with deputies by pushing the officers and yelling profanities as her son was being arrested by MSP troopers for being disorderly. She was arrested and charged with intentionally interfering with a lawful arrest and disorderly conduct.

THEFT: Someone stole a Gamefisher 15HP boat motor valued at $1000 from a boat parked on the owner's property on Stinnett Road in Huntingtown sometime between June 12 and 25. DFC R. Kreps is investigating.
