Criminal Summons Served for Waldorf Vehicle Arson


CALIFORNIA, Md. (June 22, 2011) – An investigation into a vehicle fire, which occurred on March 5 at approximately 6:00 p.m. at 4250 Piney Church Road in Waldorf, revealed the owner, Juan F. Pena-Cordova, age 24, was responsible for the fire involving his 2001 Ford Explorer, according to the office of the State Fire Marshal. Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $1,500.

Deputy State Fire Marshals developed sufficient evidence for a criminal summons to be issued for the charge of Arson 2nd Degree. Pena-Cordova was served the criminal summons at the Maryland State Police Barrack located in La Plata at approximately 2:15 p.m. on June 22 without incident. A preliminary inquiry has been scheduled for August 1 at the Charles County District Court.
