St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 16, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

TRESPASS: On June 14, Dfc. Shawn Cathcart responded to a residence off Fenwick Street in Leonardtown for a trespass complaint. While speaking with the property owner, Dfc. Cathcart observed Angel D. Fitzgerald, 23, of Leonardtown, who had been previously notified not to trespass, enter upon the victims property. Fitzgerald was arrested and charged with trespass.

THEFT: On June 15, Cpl. James Molitor responded to the CVS Pharmacy in Lexington Park for a theft. Upon arrival, Cpl. Molitor learned Keith R. Nelson, 37, of Avenue, was observed by store staff concealing merchandise on his person and leaving the business. Keith Nelson was confronted and found to be in possession of a pair of sunglasses, which were the property of CVS and valued at $21.19. Nelson was arrested and a search of his person revealed a quantity of Alprazolam for which he did not have a prescription. Additionally, a records check showed Nelson was wanted on two outstanding warrants for child support. Keith R. Nelson was charged with Theft under $100 and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: On June 15, Deputy Melissa Green responded to Camden Way and Worth Avenue in California for a motor vehicle accident. Deputy Green's investigation determined Elizabeth A. Wright, of Hollywood, was traveling on Worth Avenue in a 2004 Toyota when her vehicle accelerated for an unknown reason striking a guardrail and then a gas line in the vicinity of BJ's Wholesale Club. The area was cordoned off until Washington Gas was able to repair the gas line. No injuries were reported.

LAPTOP THEFT: On June 14, the Sheriff's Office received a complainant of a theft of a Dell Inspiration laptop from Walden Sierra located in Lexington Park. Investigation revealed that the suspect, Fredy Eatmon II, 46, of Washington, DC entered the business requesting to use the telephone. The suspect was allowed to use the phone in the office, at which time the suspect picked up the laptop and fled out the front door. A description of the suspect was provided to in-coming deputies. The suspect was located in the area, identified, and he subsequently advised deputies where the laptop could be located. The laptop was located undamaged, and returned to Walden Sierra. The suspect was arrested by Dfc. Scott Ruest and charged with theft less than $1000.

ARMED ROBBERY OF RADIO SHACK: On May 27, officers responded to the Radio Shack located in Charlotte Hall for the reported armed robbery. Officers learned that an unknown, very tall male entered the store with a handgun, tied up the clerk, and stole electronics and currency from the store. The suspect then fled the area. The case was assigned to detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) who identified Demond James Gleaton, 38, of Suitland, as the suspect. On June 15, Gleaton was arrested at a hotel in Prince George's County for the armed robbery by BCI detectives. After his arrest, search and seizure warrants were executed in Prince George's County. Gleaton is currently incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held without bond on the following charges: Armed Robbery; Use of a Handgun in a Crime of Violence; Theft $1,000 - $10,000; and Theft Under $1,000. Additional charges are pending a review by the State's Attorney.
