Calvert Co. School System Announces Principal Assignments


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (June 11, 2011)—The Calvert County Public Schools System announced school principal assignments for the coming school year.

Becky Bowen, vice principal of Calvert Middle School, will become the principal at Mill Creek Middle School on July 1. As previously announced on April 28, Dr. Sylvia Lawson, principal of Southern Middle School, will replace retiring Northern High School principal George Miller.

Several other schools will also have new principals next year because school system administrators will be moved out of the central office to help balance next year’s budget.

The principal assignments for next year are:

Appeal Elementary: Bernadette Stephenson

Barstow Elementary: Donna House

Beach Elementary: Mike Shisler

Calvert Elementary: Laurie Haynie

Dowell Elementary: Jennifer Young

Huntingtown Elementary: Ramona Crowley

Mt. Harmony Elementary: Liz Gebelein

Mutual Elementary: Lisa Wisniewski

Patuxent Elementary: Dennis Vogel

Plum Point Elementary: Joyce King

St. Leonard Elementary: Toni Chapman

Sunderland Elementary: Karen Vogel

Windy Hill Elementary: Kelley Adams

Calvert Middle: Bruce Hutchison

Mill Creek Middle: Becky Bowen

Northern Middle: Darrel Prioleau

Plum Point Middle: Zack Seawell

Southern Middle: Cheryl Johnson

Windy Hill Middle: Karen Burnett

Calvert High: Susan Johnson

Huntingtown High: Rick Weber

Northern High: Sylvia Lawson

Patuxent High: Nancy Highsmith

Career & Technology Academy: Mark Wilding

Calvert Country: Diane Black

No other changes are planned at this time; however, unexpected retirements or resignations could result in future changes, say school officials.
