Leonardtown Student Elected MASC Treasurer


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 23, 2011)—The Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC), a state-wide student-led organization, elected Miss Devan Ogburn from Leonardtown Middle School to the position of Treasurer. While assuming full duties and responsibilities of this state held position, Devan will manage MASC funds, prepare an annual budget, as well as coordinate state-wide student leadership conferences. Miss Ogburn will take this position and its responsibilities beginning June 2011.

Miss Ogburn is an eighth grade student at Leonardtown Middle School and is a longtime participant in her school's student government association. This year she was also Second Vice-President for MASC. She participates in several leadership activities at her school and on the state-level. In addition, she volunteers with various community organizations to promote civic engagement and involvement, such as Harvest for the Hungry and the Christmas Caring Program for Kids.

Miss Ogburn will become an official member of the MASC Executive Board and provide an informed student viewpoint on a variety of issues impacting the lives of students throughout the State of Maryland. In addition, Miss Ogburn will be sharing information with students and the general public on an array of educational concerns. This state-level leadership position also includes being an active participant at student-related and MASC-related activities.
