Animal Shelter Introduces New 'Kittie Cam'

HUGHESVILLE, Md. (May 12, 2011) — The Tri-County Animal Shelter went live Wednesday with their new Kittie Cam. The real-time streaming video is designed to help place cats and kittens into new homes, say shelter officials.

The live camera feed gives viewers a look at adoptable cats and kittens interacting together in the shelter’s new Colony Cat Room. Shelter officials hope that allowing the public to observe the animal’s personalities online will help match the felines with potential adopters.

To access the live streaming Cat Room camera, go to openstream.charlescounty.org/catcam.jsp.

Animals available for adoption can also be seen online at www.charlescounty.org/es/animalcontrol/ or www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD112.html.

Adoption hours at the shelter are Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Tri-County Animal Shelter is located at 6707 Animal Shelter Road in Hughesville. The shelter staff can be reached at 301 932-1713 or 800 903-1992. Citizens with special needs may contact the Maryland Relay Service at 711, or Relay Service TDD: 800-735-2258.
