St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 10, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On May 5, deputies responded to a pier in St. Inigoes for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival deputies contacted Richard Joseph Ince, IV, 21 of St. Inigoes, was seated in a van. Sergeant Evans and K9 Tuun arrived on the scene and conducted a K9 scan of the van. K9 Tuun alerted for the presence of narcotics inside the van. A probable cause search of the van was conducted. A smoking device containing suspected marijuana was located inside the van. Ince was arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance - suspected marijuana.

DRUG ARREST: On May 6, the St. Mary's County Emergency Communications Center broadcast a lookout for a red, Ford Mustang at a restaurant in Charlotte Hall. It was reported the driver exposed himself and urinated in public. The vehicle was located and the driver identified as Demetrius Devon Morissette, 25, of Waldorf. A check of Morissette's license status revealed his privilege to operate a motor vehicle was suspended. Morissette was arrested. Search incident to the arrest revealed he was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected marijuana and controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT, DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On May 7, deputies responded to a residence on Reeder Sanders Lane in Hollywood for a repost of a disturbance. Investigation revealed Jason Aaron Cleaveland, 19, of Hollywood, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim. The victim went into another room and locked the door to avoid any further dispute. Cleaveland kick in the door to the room and punched the victim several times in the face and head. Cleaveland was arrested and charged with second degree assault and destruction of property.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On May 8, deputies responded to a residence on Fox Chase Drive in Great Mills for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Rhoda Melissa Cradle, 43, of Great Mills, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Cradle struck the victim in the face. Cradle was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On May 8, deputies responded to a residence on St. Lo Place in Lexington Park for a report of an assault. Investigation Derek Dalonta Holland, 24, of Port Republic, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Holland choked the victim. Holland was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

SEX OFFENDER ARREST: On May 5, detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations Sex Offender Unit obtained and served a warrant on Jonathon Albert Anderson, 21, of Lexington Park. The investigation revealed Anderson had provided a false address to the sex offender registry and failed to provide the address where he was living. He was arrested and is currently being held in the St. Mary's County Detention Center awaiting an appearance before a District Court Judge.

DRUG ARREST: On May 4, deputies responded to Lewin Lane in Valley Lee for a report of an unwanted guest. Deputies responded and stopped a vehicle as it was exiting the complainant's property. The unwanted guest was the passenger of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Melissa Joy Bennett, 18, of Valley Lee. Further investigation and a consent search of the vehicle revealed Bennett was in possession of prescription medication, Percocet not prescribed to her. Bennett was arrested and charge with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Percocet.
