Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (May 9, 2011)—The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: During the week of May 2 through May 8, deputies responded to 1,892 calls for service throughout the community.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Someone caused $250 in damage to the sliding door of a home on 6th Street in North Beach on May 2 around 8:30 p.m. The damage may have been caused by a BB gun. DFC J. Elliott is investigating.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT: A concerned citizen called in a complaint of a dog locked in a vehicle for over two hours in the parking lot of the Prince Frederick Giant on May 3 at 1:38 p.m. Dep. M. Quinn cited the owner, Diana Marie Andraka, 47, of Owings, for endangering an animal's health and well being by confinement inside a vehicle. The dog did not appear to have suffered any long term effects.

BURGLARY: A home on San Jose Lane in Lusby was burglarized sometime between April 29 and May 3. A vehicle parked in the driveway had the driver side window smashed out as well. The unknown suspect(s) stole over $4000 in property to include a 58 inch Samsung plasma TV, an Olympus digital camera, a PlayStation3, a Gateway laptop and other items. DFC M. Velasquez is investigating.

THEFT FROM AUTO: Someone stole a black IPOD Nano worth $100 from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a home on August Drive in Port Republic between May 5 and 6. DFC J. Bell is investigating.

THEFT FROM AUTO: Unknown suspect(s) stole a purple Olympic 820 digital camera from inside an unlocked vehicle at a home on White Sands Drive in Lusby overnight between May 5 and 6. DFC J. Bell is also investigating this case.

DRUG ARREST: DFC M. Robshaw conducted a traffic stop on May 7 at 2:45 a.m. on Md. Rt. 4 and Skinners Turn Road in Owings. He found the driver and a passenger to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He cited James Thomas Carter, 19 of Forestville and Daronte Alonzo Lewis, 24 of Temple Hills, with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a metal grinder used to process marijuana.

DRUG ARREST: On May 8 at 12:54 a.m. Dep. M. Economes responded to St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick for the report of a female hollering for help. Economes made contact with a subject on the back porch of the church who advised that he had just had an argument with his daughter and she left him there. The subject, identified as Richard Brian Desmond, 56 of St. Leonard, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and was arrested and charged.

DRUG ARREST: DFC P. Aurich responded to a suspicious vehicle call at the Dunkirk Arby's on May 8 at 10:00 p.m. After making contact with the driver, later identified as Richard Benjamin Hardesty, Jr., 27 of Upper Marlboro, he charged Hardesty with use of drug paraphernalia, a crushed can used as a CDS pipe.
