Chas. Co. Asst. Attorney Announces Retirement

LA PLATA, Md. (May 5, 2011) — Assistant County Attorney John Buchanan announced today his retirement from Charles County Government. Mr. Buchanan began working for the County in a part-time, contractual capacity in 1997, and transitioned to a full-time Assistant County Attorney in 2001.

“We have a great deal of respect for Mr. Buchanan and the work he’s done to benefit Charles County. His presence will be missed in the County Attorney’s Office and throughout County Government. ” said Commissioner President Candice Quinn Kelly on behalf of the Board of Commissioners.

During Mr. Buchanan’s tenure he represented the County in both State and Federal Court, oversaw Zoning Enforcement matters, and advised a number of the County’s administrative bodies, to include the Board of License Commissioners and the Board of Appeals.
