Drug Arrests in St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 5, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On May 4, Deputy Timothy Snyder responded to a motor vehicle accident on Satchel Page Way in Hollywood. While investigating the collision, he detected alcohol on the person of one of the vehicle operators, Ronald Eugene Gordon, Jr., 34, of Mechanicsville. Gordon was provided standardized field sobriety tests for which he performed poorly and was arrested. A search of Gordon's vehicle incident to the arrest resulted in the discovery of suspected marijuana in the driver's door. Gordon was arrested, charged with Possession of Marijuana and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was released to the custody of the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On May 4, Dfc. Shaun Carberry was investigating a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle in the vicinity of Shining Willow Lane in Lexington Park when he encountered Michael W. Cessford, 22, of Lexington Park. During his contact with Cessford, Dfc. Carberry observed pills wrapped in cellophane on the passenger seat of a 1991 Nissan Stanza which Cessford was observed exiting. The pills were identified as Klonopin, which is a controlled substance. A further search of the vehicle revealed an additional pill under the driver seat. Cessford was arrested, charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and released to the custody of the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On May 5, Sgt. Eric Walker was patrolling the parking lot of the A&E Motel in Lexington Park when he encountered Stacy L. Sboto, who was seated in the driver seat of a green Honda. While speaking to the Sboto, Dfc. Rischel scanned the exterior of the vehicle with his canine. The canine alerted for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and a search revealed a metal smoking device and suspected crack cocaine. Stacy L. Sboto was arrested, charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released to the custody of the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
