MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 5, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, May 2 at 5:30pm, TFC J. A. Pilkerton responded to the St. Mary's State Park on Camp Cosoma Road in Leonardtown for reported drug activity. Upon arrival, contact was made with a citizen that advised 4 male subjects were believed to be smoking CDS in the area of the playground. A physical description was provided as well as information on the vehicle being operated by the individuals. TFC Pilkerton observed a vehicle exiting the parking lot that matched the description as well as occupants that matched the description provided. A traffic stop was initiated on Redbud Drive and Camp Cosoma Road. Upon making contact with the operator, Bryant Allen Michael Lawson, 19, of Leonardtown, TFC Pilkerton detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Lawson and the passengers in the vehicle were asked to exit the vehicle and a probable cause search was performed. The search revealed CDS - Marijuana under the center console. Following information provided by the occupants, Mr. Lawson was arrested for possession of CDS and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Bryant Lawson was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, May 2 at 11:45pm, Tpr. D. S. Brill served two outstanding Bench Warrants (T3-14912 / T3-14913) on Shanae Elizabeth Dorsey, 20, of Leonardtown. Both warrants were issued on April 27 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Original charges were Driving Without a License, and Driving On A Suspended License. Ms. Dorsey was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, May 3 at 6:21pm, TFC J. A. Pilkerton initiated a traffic stop on a green Ford Explorer in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Golden Beach Road for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator, Ross Allen Goldsmith, 21, of Mechanicsville, TFC Pilkerton detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. When additional units arrived on scene, TFC Pilkerton had Mr. Goldsmith and passenger, Amanda Nicole Williams, 19, of Mechanicsville, exit the vehicle for a probable cause search to be performed. The search revealed CDS Paraphernalia in the passenger side door and in Ms. Williams' personal bag. Both subjects were issued Criminal Citations and released on scene until a later court date.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, May 3 at 8:00pm, Sgt. A. Rossignol initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet for a traffic violation. TFC E. M. Evans responded to the area of South Essex Drive and Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park to assist on the traffic stop. Upon arrival, TFC Evans made contact with the operator, David Shawn Griffin, 33, of Callaway. While speaking with Mr. Griffin, TFC Evans detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was performed revealing CDS and CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Griffin was subsequently arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, May 3 at 9:00pm, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann served two outstanding Bench Warrants (T3-14924 / T3-14925) on Jonathan Albert Anderson, 21, of Lexington Park. Both warrants were issued on April 29 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Warrant T3-14924 was issued with an original charge of Con - Robbery, and warrant T3-14925 was issued with an original charge of Second Degree Assault. Mr. Anderson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Tuesday, May 3 at 9:37pm, TFC J. C. Hardesty responded to the 21000 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park to assist Sgt. A. Rossignol with a disorderly patron at the Advanced Auto Parts store. Upon arrival, TFC Hardesty observed that the subject, identified as Michael Anthony Somerville, 27, of Lexington Park had already been detained by Sgt. Rossignol. Contact was made with a male complainant, 50, of Lexington Park, who advised that Mr. Somerville ran in front of his vehicle and was almost struck. Irate at the incident, Mr. Somerville attempted to cause damage to the vehicle and strike the complainant. A witness on the scene provided a similar account of the situation and advised that Mr. Somerville was intoxicated. Based on information provided and evidence observed on the scene, Mr. Somerville was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
