MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (May 3, 2011)—The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA, PRESCRIPTION DRUGS: On 4/26/11 at 2:57 p.m., Trooper First Class Evans stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Rt. 231 at Stafford Rd. in Prince Frederick. An odor of marijuana was detected in the vehicle and a search revealed marijuana and other prescription drugs. Steven W. Goldsmith, Jr., 22 of Hughesville was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, Percocet and Clonazepam, and drug paraphernalia. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT OF GASOLINE: On 4/26/11 at 5:25 p.m., Trooper Casarella responded to the Calvert Shell Gas Station in Prince Frederick for a report of a driver leaving the station without paying for fuel. A witness was located and a suspect has been developed. Investigation continues.

BURGLARY: On 4/26/11 at 6:00 p.m., Trooper First Class Parker responded to the 12400 block of Ridge Rd. in Lusby for a reported burglary. The victim advised that upon arriving home, it was discovered that the home had been broken into. A flat-screen TV, jewelry and money were stolen. Investigation continues.

THEFT: On 4/26/11 at 7:01 p.m., Trooper Casarella responded to the 1800 block of John C Ward Rd. in Owings for a reported theft. A family member accused another family member of stealing a portable DVD player. Investigation continues.

DUI, POSSESSION OF PERCOCET: On 4/27/11 at 12:12 a.m., Trooper West stopped to assist a disabled vehicle on Parran Rd at Rt. 4 in St. Leonard. The odor of alcohol was detected on the driver, Ashley M. Howes, 25 of Lusby. After failing sobriety testing, she was arrested for DUI. She was also found to be in possession of Percocet without a prescription. She was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT: On 4/26/11 at 11:00 p.m., Trooper First Class Hunt responded to the Help Assistance Thrift Store in Owings for a reported theft. Numerous bags of items were stolen from the donation area outside the store. An arrest warrant has been requested for Raymond E. Goode, 46 of Owings.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MOTOR VEHICLE: On 4/27/11 at 2:00 p.m., Trooper Smith responded to the 100 block of Turnabout Lane in Huntingtown for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that her vehicle was taken by her brother without her knowledge and permission. The vehicle was later returned. A criminal summons has been requested for Donald W. Johnson, 21 of Huntingtown.

POSSESSION OF PERCOCET, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA: On 4/28/11 at 9:26 p.m., Trooper West stopped a vehicle for traffic violations at Apple Way and Calvert Beach Rd. in St. Leonard. The driver, Andrea M. Marshall, 22, and the passenger, James F. Mc Grath, 24, both of St. Leonard, were both found to be in possession of Percocet without a prescription and other drug paraphernalia. They were incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On 4/29/11 at 10:54 a.m., Trooper Esnes responded to the 300 block of Chapel Hills Rd. in Prince Frederick for a report of a theft from a vehicle. Approximately 48 CD's and loose change were stolen from a vehicle. Investigation continues.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: On 4/29/11 at 6:40 p.m., Trooper Smith responded to the 300 block of Oak Dr. in Lusby in response to a theft of a motor vehicle. A 1994 white Plymouth Voyager was stolen from the victim's driveway. Neighbors reported seeing a dark colored tow truck remove the vehicle from the property. Investigation continues.

DUI, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 4/30/11 at 6:45 p.m., Trooper First Class Evans responded to the area of wayside Dr and Rt. 2 to check welfare on a vehicle stopped in the travel portion of the roadway. Robbie T. Root, 31 of Edgewater, was found to be extremely intoxicated. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. He was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On 5/1/11 at 01:02 a.m., Trooper First Class Landis responded to Jasper's American Grill in Prince Frederick for a fight in progress. Mark M. Spears, 23 of Mechanicsville, was arrested for disorderly conduct. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

POSSESSION OF PRESCRIPTION PILLS: On 5/1/11 at 10:25 p.m., Trooper First Class Johns responded to the 8500 block of Daryl Drive in Lusby regarding an open warrant for a suspect at that residence. Michael D. Weaver, Jr. 42 of Lusby, was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. A secondary search revealed possession of prescriptions drugs not prescribed to him. He was additionally charged with possession of CDS.

BURGLARY: On 5/2/11 at 9:11 a.m., Sgt. Coppage received a report of a stolen shotgun. The victim reported that a Benelli 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun and case were missing from his residence in the 2900 block of Stinnett Rd. in Huntingtown. Investigation continues.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: On 5/2/11 at 9:50 a.m., Corporal Koch received a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim reported a 2003 Gray Ford Explorer was removed from the 200 block of Terrance Dr. in Prince Frederick. Investigation continues.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On 5/2/11 at 12:09 p.m., Sgt. Coppage received a report of the theft of two Maryland registration plates (M416309) from a vehicle in the 2300 block of Shields Dr. in Dunkirk. Investigation continues.
