LA PLATA, Md. (April 14, 2011) Charles County's Director of Planning and Growth Management, Melvin Chuck Beall, Jr., today announced his resignation effective immediately, according to the county government. Beall has been employed with Charles County Government since March 29, 1993.
I have enjoyed my employment with County Government over the last 18 years and the professional opportunities it has provided me, said Beall in a prepared statement. I am most proud of the accomplishments the staff of the Department of Planning & Growth Management has been able to obtain in improving the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the County.
We wish Mr. Beall the best in his future endeavors, said Commissioner President Candice Quinn Kelly on behalf of the Board of Commissioners in a prepared statement. At this time, our goal is to find a candidate who is equally qualified and dedicated, and committed to moving the Department forward in a positive direction.
Assistant to the County Administrator Roy Hancock will serve as the Acting Temporary Director of the Planning & Growth Management Department until a permanent replacement is appointed. The Commissioners plan to conduct a competitive screening process to fill the position, according to a press release.
