LA PLATA, Md. (April 1, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office on Thursday released the following incident and arrest reports.

DETECTIVES ARREST SUSPECTS IN CITIZEN ROBBERY: Charles County Sheriff's detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division recently arrested three 17-year-old males in connection with a citizen robbery that occurred on March 7 at the Smallwood Park and Ride. During the robbery, the suspects approached the victim, assaulted him and stole his money and cell phone. Detectives pursued several leads and subsequently linked the suspects to the case. The suspects were charged with robbery.

SUSPECTS IN CITIZEN ROBBERY ARRESTED: Charles County Sheriff's detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division arrested Michael Landers, 21, Francis Waddell, 19, and Leonard Waddell, 25, all of Waldorf, in connection with a citizen robbery that occurred on March 8 in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant on Smallwood Drive. As a result of the investigation and a special patrol operation which included officers assigned to Patrol, COPS and the Tactical Response Unit, detectives located the suspects and arrested them after they were positively identified. All three men were charged with robbery.

DUI CHECK POINT: On March 25, members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office Traffic Operations Unit and Patrol Operations conducted a DUI check point near Billingsley Road and Duttons Bridge. A total of 516 vehicles passed thru the check point. Officers arrested one person for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and issued six citations, seven warnings and six equipment repair orders.

DRUG ARREST: On March 26 at 9:30 p.m., an off-duty Sheriff's Officer observed a suspicious car near a convenience store in the 3800 block of Leonardtown Road in Waldorf. As he approached the car, the officer smelled marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The officer observed marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the car and as he investigated further, he observed two shot guns on the rear seat. The occupants, Ryon Patrick Myers, 20, of Bryantown, Douglas Hamilton Dixon, 21, of Swann Point and Jacob Hall Myers, 19, of La Plata, were arrested and charged with possession of drugs. Officer Yates made the arrest.

WOMAN CHARGED IN FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On March 26 at 1:55 a.m., officers responded to the 4000 block of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head, for the report of a stabbing. A preliminary investigation showed the suspect, Shannell Vernita Hammond, 31, of Indian Head, stabbed the victim, an acquaintance, during a dispute about rent. The victim, 57, was transported to a hospital where he was treated for a non life-threatening injury. The suspect was arrested on the scene and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
